Amp for Kenwood 718

Hi guys,
i've recently bought a pair of kenwood 718 for my car. They are being run by panasonic 320 that comes with latest GLI with no amp at the moment.
Please suggest the following:
1) Which amplifier should i buy for these speakers? They are 80 rms with peak power of 320 watts. Please suggest power of amplier along with the price.
2) another this is, since the car is hatchback with cng installed, i am using projected plastic spacers for the speakers. The sound quality isnt good at all. Probably the head unit is delivering 50 watts x 4 speakers. Please suggest the best fit for the speakers to deliver max. Performance
3) since the headunit has built-in amplifier of 50 w. Should i go for front dash speakers as well? If yes, please suggest brand and price

bro...here goes...

dirst of all that headunit rating thats written 50Wx4 is the PEAK POWER and not the RMS power...we need to be looking at the RMS power and the headunit barely puts out 18-20W RMS...which is just too low to drive these...

get an amp with a 50-80W Rms output...basically any small amp will do the trick...you will feel a lot of difference trust me...

@Mohsin : thanks for your reply but could you please reply point by point to my query. Secondly whats the difference between RMS and Peak Power. What watts of ampere is needed to pull out maximum performance from kenwood 718; which are 80 rms and 320w peak.
@hashim: please tell me the specifications of this 02 channel amp. Will it support the other pair of in-dash speakers?

yup it can easily run 4 speakers..

The aftermarket pre z have a max output of 15rms. Ur speakers are 70rms

can u put a 10 no foot inside a 4no shoe.

dude a channel is a channel.. an independent passage of transmission.. you attach one speaker to each channel.. if u have 2 speakers go for 2 channel amp.. if u have 4 go for 4 channel.. if you have woofers as well.. go for a mono amplifier.. now the rating.. there are two types.. peak power and rms power.. peak power is the max input it can take.. and rms power also called rated power is the output it can generate.. check the rms of ur speakers and select an amp accordingly.. if u attach 4 speakers to a 2 channel amp the rms will be divided and vice versa..

the head units that mention 50watt is the peak power.. actual rms is around 15watt or less.. depends on the brand.. the uk and usa ones like apline and goodmans give exactly what they mention.. where as in my opinion pioneer rms is less than mentioned..

i would recommend u buy mutant MT 2004 4x70W amp.. it is korean and easily available.. will power up ur 718's fine and also has a bass boost feature which is rare in these amps.. the price is around 3.8k.. if u have more money than definitely go for Kenwood or Sony branded amps.. will cost u around 8-10k..

you can buy any of these 4 Channel Amps and connect your 2 speakers (front or rear) and a SUB together.

Guys I am again confused.

I have seen the specs of these amps.

1) What does it mean by Rated Power? Whats the difference between Rated Power and RMS (written on Speakers)?
2) If its written 400W on an amplifier, Does it mean Peak Power or Rated Power?
3) Kenwood 718 has 80 W RMS and 320 W peak. So, i need an amplifier which can deliver not less than 160 W of RMS and 640 W of peak power. Am I right?

Rated power, RMS or true power are all same. they are the correct standard of measurement.

Kenwood 718 is rated @ 80W for the pair (both speakers).

Pioneer GM4300F is rated @ 40W Rms.

Kenwood 8401 and Sony are both rated @ 60WRMS but maximum power of Kenwood is 640W, Pioneer 400W, Sony 300W .

the above mentioned 3 AMPS are all 4 Channel that means they can drive 4 speaker (or 2 pair of speakers), or 4 SUBS 2 SUBS and 2 Speakers, or 2 Speakers and 1 SUB or any other combinations.

Power on higher side is always peak power or PMPO.

All 4 Channel Amps suits you, you need 4 channel AMP if you want to AMP all 2 pairs, it is just a matter of your budget and how much power do you require.

XPLOD have a much higher rating, which pair of speaker do you like, or want to AMP.

Bro Just try to buy kenwood 500w amp for the best results.
If you want to add subwoofer go for 1000w amp.
I have 6 kenwood kfc 718 1 jbl bass tube 1000w and 2 1000w kenwood amps that sounds soo clear never heard such amazing sound system installed in any car.
