Hi,
Which amp should i get for JBL P1224, Pioneer GM-D8601 or GM-D9601? Plus what settings should i be looking to run the sub on. 4OHM or 2OHM? Will the extra watts damage the sub/amp?
D8601 is cheaper than D9601 so depends upon your budget. Latter gives slightly more power. As per my knowledge P1224 will only work in 2ohm configuration. You can choose either amplifier for that.
This Sub should be used at 2 ohm and since it is rated at 400 rms so anything from 400 to 600 should be good enough... Experts here say this Sub runs ok till 800 rms but to be on the safer side max should be 500 rms for in sealed and 450 in ported for life expectancy of more than 5 years!
The D9601 at 2 ohms gives 800 watts and d8601 at 2 ohms gives 500 watts, won't that damage the sub or the amp cuz the sub is rated at 400 watt rms? just confused seeing all that
@krieger bro yeh cheez, you dumbed it down for me to pick up. Cheers! One more thing though, why do ppl like to run on low impedence? does that have any effect on the sound. I.E the P1222 can run at 1 OHM.
So i guess GM-D8601 should be my choice here, just to be on the safe side?
Go for D8601. Play safe and enjoy the boom boom at 500rms Sub is 400rms but such subs have the potential to be over powered. People have been playing it upto 800rms but again as Krieger mentioned it affects the life of the sub as well and depends upon the box you will use. Get D8601 eyes closed
Cheers buddy thanks for all the help throughout. Looking forward to this beast.
