Also make sure that you reach the circuit a good 2 or 1.5hrs before the race because the parking during the Sunday race day is a big pain in the a**. They give you these parking stickers with the race tickets which you have to put on your cars windshield and then according to it you will be guided by the policemen standing on the roads to the allotted parking lot. Before the F1 Race, there is also an A1 Race, Drivers Parade etc. Try to capture everything! I don't know which ticket you've bought but there's this entry pass to the circuit either on Thursday or Friday and you can meet the drivers, get shirts/posters signed by them and do a walk down the circuit.

P.S. Also take pictures of the foreigner chicks (H)

I have been to the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix so i have an idea about how all this goes. Me and my dad were planning to attend the Indian GP but getting an Indian visa is not easy. And coming to the Kingfisher bash part, Vijay Mallya is a party freak and it wont be wrong to say that you'll be enjoying a lot. Take a look at the pictures of the pre-race yacht party Vijay Mallya gave in Monte Carlo. And last but not the least, that picture is way too much tempting

Thanks. The racing season has commenced again so there's gonna be something happening almost every weekend here. There's the JKTyre, MRF and another round of Polo Cup racing yet to complete.

Mr @nickatnite another nice thread from you I can see you have a good plan to build up to the real F1 race.

Some advice on the pics mate:

• You should pick a better vantage spot since some pics seem to have obstructions covering the cars on the track. It'd be great if you could get in to the official togs pit failing which please go early to get a good spot!
• Try panning at a slower shutter speed so you can show some motion as the cars whiz past, it makes for a more pleasing pic takes more practice but trust me the results are worth it.
• Focusing is key for any fast moving object if your camera has focusing priority mode please use that.
• If you want a great free tool for automatically resizing and rescaling pics let me know and I'll send you the link to download it. It'll save you a huge amount of time and hassle!

So good luck with the photography, if you post the full size pics elsewhere like Flicker dont forget to email me the link.

To get some good panning shots, keep it at about half zoom (or whatever the situation may require), just not excessive. By the time the shutter opens and closes, the car will have traveled some significant distance and you'll probably have cut it out of the frame since it'll have come closer to you.

Are you going to be using a digital cam or your nokia? These pics look pretty good.

Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna use my friend's complicated(lol) Canon SLR and my N95 too for closeup shots as i hear there's gonna be new cars of all kinds displayed across all stands at the F1 venue. I'm gonna keep practicing every weekend till i get familiar the camera.

This pics below is kinda similar to what you mentioned, taken at quarter zoom and the pillar got in the way.If i hadn't zoomed i would have got a better shot. I'm learning.
