An Event-Full Sunday

This was perhaps one of the most enjoyable Sundays here in Chennai in recent memory especially the motorhead that i am. First it was another round of the Polo Cup R series races, then the Formula IV LGB Swift series races and the Nissan 370Z Promo event featuring one of the best stunt car drivers in the world, Brit Terry Grant. Enough said.

Add to the above the atmosphere, the smell of burnt rubber and gasoline, motorheads congregating, greasy food and lots of potent potables. I was in hog heaven and i thought i'll open a new thread 'cause i've been practicing taking pics for the F1 GP in Delhi. I'm getting there picture taking -wise, methinks.

I love F-4 cars. They're the truest form of racing still available. I was speaking to a friend who's training to be a marshall at the Indian F1 GP and he was telling me that as many software technicians as mechanics are arriving along with the F1 test cars as most F1 cars are controlled by microchips. Not F-4 cars. They're all about hellfire, brimstone , driver ingenuity and luck. I was glad that there weren't any F-3 cars today as they're halfway all microchippy.

Here's another one buddy. Like i said in the intro i've been practicing and armed with a friend's advanced camera for the Indian F1 GP. If you guys are nice to me from now onward i shall come back fro Dilli with a thread full of goodies for ye all.

Whilst I spent three-quarters of the day nursing myself back to life, you somehow muster the energy to go to a motorsport event - I'm impressed!

re:alloys, i concur. I didn't binge last Sat. night so i could make it to the track on time as it's a 35km trek. re: "white girl", i mean , er, i just take the pics and maybe PW bro's actually think i'm showing off or somethin' cheesy like dat. lolzzzzzz

VW , please make these alloys available for sale. They'll look good on any car.

I have a healthy respect for the 370Z after the abuse this car took at the hands of Terry Grant

Well, this thread was a kind of practice run to the F1 GP to improve my photo taking skills and operate a complicated camera from a stand and focus. something i hate to do and love my N95 phonecam for just pointing and clicking. I'm not impressed with my new N8 phonecam as much as my older N95 despite more pixel and all that jazz. So, enjoy the pics and tell me where i can improve if you feel inclined.

The lady in the white shirt is the resident FIA rep for the Chennai race track.

Awesome thread!! You'll definitely love the Formula1 Race @nickatnite sir. The sound coming out of those v8 engines and the way the whole stands vibrate when the cars pass, its just epic! Make sure you buy yourself ear defenders before the race or else your ear's will go 'zzzzzz' after the race also, will you be attending the post-race concert in which Metallica will be performing?

Thanks B2R. You're always most kind. re: the F1 race things are still fuzzy in my head as my friends in Delhi are putting everything together. One of them did try to explain everything but i didn't register it all. I still have time. Anyways, i plan to have fun , that's for sure.

Also make sure that you reach the circuit a good 2 or 1.5hrs before the race because the parking during the Sunday race day is a big pain in the a**. They give you these parking stickers with the race tickets which you have to put on your cars windshield and then according to it you will be guided by the policemen standing on the roads to the allotted parking lot. Before the F1 Race, there is also an A1 Race, Drivers Parade etc. Try to capture everything! I don't know which ticket you've bought but there's this entry pass to the circuit either on Thursday or Friday and you can meet the drivers, get shirts/posters signed by them and do a walk down the circuit.

P.S. Also take pictures of the foreigner chicks (H)
