I met a Deer on Motorway from Islamabad to Lahore in 2008 at night around 12:30. He crossed the M2 near Chakri and ran fast, my speed was 110km/h. he hit my car bumper but Alhamdullillah that deer and we were safe he only minor touched with car bumper..

here government use steel wires around the roads (like motorway in pakistan) very less chances that camel can come. camels are mostly near main highway, so there are open area like dessert, so you can see from distance that there is camel on the road. you should slow down your car.

brother, yahan speed limit 120 hai. cameras lagay huey hein, but log overspeed drive kerte hein. personally mein b nearly 160 drive kerta hoon. jahan per camera wali gari ho, wahan per slow ker lete hein, kuchh log number plate per tape lagatay hein taa k number note na ho;).

mostly roads have steel wires, no camels can come on the roads. camels are on open areas, there you can see from distance. mostly I drive at 160, but nazar her taraf hoti hai, coz beware of camera cars and camels.

We Pakistanis shouldn't worry about animals on roads. Here we have no difference in behavior of human beings or animals when they are on the road. Both are identically un-predictable, dangerous, devoid of traffic sense and road manners and equally illiterate. A road in Pakistan is everything (playground, shop, community center, store, bed, WC, workshop, restaurant, bus-stop, office, barn, farm house, many a times home as well, etc.) except being a road. Animals are not on our worry list.

Well to be honest NO.. several studies on it with nothing guaranteed.
If it worked insurance agencies would have made it compulsory to have it in car provided by them at no cost in deer populated areas. They are spending hundreds of millions on these animal related claims..

Only the illiterate and uncivilized riders are dangerous
Do not brand every rider as dangerous
i have been riding for many years but i have always stayed in the left most lane minding my own business and never getting in the way of car drivers

I agree with your view.
I shouldn't brand all motorcyclists as bad, some are pretty safe drivers.

Actually I just came from a long drive on eid from Khi - Lhr and back, so I faced a lot of dangerous motorcyclists.

On my last trip to Scotland, I was driving from Isle of Skye to Inverness at night at considerable speed on a single carriage way 140+, a herd of deer just jumped in middle of the road and upcoming bridge and river making it worst to avoid deers as i cant go off road and straight to river! just to give you an idea it was like this

good thing deers stopped because of car lights, and no on coming vehicle, so i moved right and immediate left to be on bridge! I had two little one on back seats along with my wife - all three sleeping, on passenger seat my sister who was awake! Children were safe as in children seats and all buckled up! Wife had scary wake up as she wasnt wearing seat belt. split seconds Allah saved us all as after right left at high speed car was swerving after that until it was stopped! but if we were in a bit lighter car it would have been a disaster, car was a rental almost brand new 2.0 CDTi GM/Vauxhall/Opel Insignia and stood its ground and behaved well though i believe at one point its left side was in the air for nano seconds!

It cant be compared to earlier on same day i came across sheeps on a bendy road but at very low speed and at day time!

So stay alert, all seat belts and correct children car seats in case of children in the car!

Very good to hear everything is fine.. But if incase even there was no animal you were at fault for lot of other things

1. Driving at night carelessly.

2. Single roadway.

3. I am sure you were almost twice the speed limit.

And the most important.. you were driving with family and little ones. You should be driving below speed limits and with extra care; which in this case you were not. They are more precious then anything else. More important than your own pleasure on the driving seat.
