Although you have to study by yourself, Just 4 papers to attempt & are not that costly!!
However, After CIA do plan for something else i.e. CBA(Certified Bank Auditor) ...Certified Financial Services Auditor® (CFSA®), and the Certification in Control Self-Assessment® (CCSA®) exams....Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS) or CFE-Certified Fraud Examiner..or CISA-Certified Information Systems Auditor...CISM-Certified Information Security Manager!!

Anyways, If your in a Firm or a student of CA,etc then CIA is nothing for you!!

^ Even after completing CA if you're in an internal audit role in some organization then doing CIA does help you. (Y)

@somi: it would be best to identify your local CIA chapter (not sure abt faisalabad but you should be able to locate in lahore) they would guide you better!! and i remember someone quoting me that pirated/ photocopied study material for CIA/ CFA etc is available @ some waheed books in lahore!!

and CIA/ CISA for a CA is an extra if he is employed as Internal/ IS auditor, otherwise majority of senior positions in IA are held by CAs!

Thx for the info. I m a student of Chartered Accountancy, recently completed my articles and luking for the job. Got some free time and planning for the CIA exam. I'll check the waheed book shop inshAllah.

CIA can be the chief Internal Auditor of an Institution as per NBFC regulations!! (Y)

But do analyze your local market before registering yourself for any certification!!

CIA actually helps you in presenting your finding during internal audit in more user friendly manner (if you have completed your articles and learn how to make an observation),

else, it helps you getting job for IA dept, or impress your susral etc

I am an old player of this field, 10th BAC (1997), 12 yrs old, and have seen all done all status, worked in a large group as AM internal audit 2 year back

I suggest you better go for it and try to complete it in one attempt, further develop your auditing skills more sharp,

and why the hell you left the firm without having a job in hand, go back anf join the same firm till you finds a job !Thanx

CIA does ve scope here in Pakistan keepin in view that Internal Audit function is becoming an integral part of all listed companies as per Code of Corporate Governance...

Thx for the info sir. The working style specially here in fsd is much different from other cities. I completed my articles from Deloitte. and there is no vacant position for a trainee like me who have completed his training period. Job market situation is worse these days and that's why I am planning to best utilise this time.

@somi: Although it's your decision but my sincere advice is that no matter what nominal stipend the firm keep paying you or even if they dont pay, unless you need time for exams, its always better to stay in the firm since your prospects for hunting a job while you are working with clients are higher than a person who is out of touch from the profession.

I'm sure Deloitte or any big 4 (since i m also from one and i know the isb big 4 market these days) always prefer retaining their trainees though at packages much lower than market, but its always a deal since the edge it gives you on ur resume of 'working with Deloitee' vs. 'not on job since past x months'.. hope u get my point!!

Notwithstanding, one is always under higher psychological (not financial) pressure to accept any job in desperation of staying at home for prolonged periods!!
