Permatex claim its OK to use on transmission sumps - I have personally never used it though. Please do not let the mechanic smudge it around with his fingers. And if you are going to use this then do not use any other gasket on the sump.
Apply it with the provided nozzle, cut it so you can lay down a 3mm bead. Apply the bead in a way that it is continuous all the way and going inwards from the bolt holes, once you are done with the bead, then make small semi circles around the bolt holes to join them to the main one piece bead.
Ensure that the surface was just cleaned with acetone right before you apply the bead Similarly the transmission sealing surface should be cleaned and wiped down with acetone so that there are no contaminants on it.
You only have ONE chance to set the sump on the transmission - that is why I advised you to make 2 guide bolts. It goes in straight without fiddling and start at least 2 bolts, install all other bolts and tighten down - leave alone for about 2 hours then fill ATF. This material will fully cure after 24 hours.
