car is making a slight tuk sound from the front right tyre side when i brake or accelerate the car.What could be the reason??
pls-tyres have been recently replaced.alignment and wheel balancing not done yet.

Dear Legendary Xulfiqar,

Ive recently made a profile on PW in order to gain some insight to my first car purchase.

Apparently you are an avid car enthusiast with extensive automobile knowledge and experience. I am a nutter when it comes to cars. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to give me pros and cons of buying a used manual Santro. I have Rs 600,000.

Also where I can get a good deal? Ive checked out OLX and sunday classifieds. Dealers have their own commission to make. Everyone is out there to get someone. Any more car hunting avenues im missing?

I take nothing in life for granted. Would be thrilled if you are able to give me a few pointers.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have no idea of the current prices in Pakistan, and personally the problem with Santros were the hopeless spare parts. If the situation is better now then go for it.

But do ask around for pricing as I dont live in Pakistan anymore - its been about 8 years today.

i was going through some jeep forums and some people there claim that they slowly advanced their timing on petrol to the point that it still wouldn't knock under routine driving. those people claim that their fuel economy improved, does it really happen like that?

yes - its workable - but varies from place to place due to fuel differences.

Toyota Premio 2007-08 model. Sudden stop in acceleration while driving for continuous driving like on highway. It stop accelerating and when pull over switch off for few seconds and then start it works fine. Happened thrice while on road trip to Punjab. Is it due to bad petrol quality or could be problem with fuelpump or tuning issue? I also noticed it happened when fuel tank was below or quarter and I had got the fuel from some random petrol station in lhr n thn in bhawalpur on my trip. mechanic suggests that I should bring car when it problem occurs again. Here in Khi I got petrol tank full (half supreme half hi-octane) but acceleration/pick-up is not as good like before it did 170Km/h easily. Now tank is quarter left but haven't faced the issue again within Khi but m sure it will happen once I go on highway. Please advice what could be the problem and any good mechanic in Karachi.

With a limited budget, I am stuck between a civic 2007 Prosmetic Oriel 1.8 and a 2003-4 Premio 1.5 . I have never driven or both yet but i have driven a civic 2003 prosmetic. before this 2003 prosmetic i have never owned a car in Pakistan and was mostly use to driving a Accord / camry basically anything above 2.0. I am just looking for a safe and reliable car and will drive it on petrol only.. Let me know what you think .

I like the civic 2007 as its at-least 3-4 year newer car then premio and less mileage on ODO but as in most of the local car the inside seems to be just ok with no real information available about safety ratings etc.
on the other hand premio seems to be a better built but again not too much information available online or authentic reviews plus its the 1st generation car ..

I am not an expert but my guess is that the premio will still have the old timing belt and civic might have the chain. bascially what i am trying to say is that Civic might have newer technology even if its pkdm then the older JDM .

its not that hard, just a bit heavy, you also need to have lots of petroleum jelly to assemble it - Bottle gali Karachi sell it by the kg - cheap too.

Also buy some proper sealants from Marriot Rd or Frere Road. I think mazda say to use threebond 1107 or equivalent in some places.

can i use vaseline (which is petroleum jelly as much as i know) as an assembly lube on a normal engine?

that wont work, you need a lube with solid lubricants like molybdenum

This also opens up a can of worms in Pakistan as people tend to have the denter/painter lot repair them - with no respect to the structure of the car.

For all the sake of easy ownership get a car whose technical support is available at all levels, starting from spare parts to service bulletins.

i finally got that venturi out, it seems that it had some sort of clips holding it which had to be opened by maybe a thin flathead screwdriver, i got it out the caveman way, luckily nothing is damaged.

btw i am not so satisfied with the foaming action of that venturi, can the piece of pipe in the venturi be replaced?

This also opens up a can of worms in Pakistan as people tend to have the denter/painter lot repair them - with no respect to the structure of the car.

That is a major problem in Pakistan. Cant help that, you need to be on top of such acts, its your money that bought the car, you better protect it.

Xulfiqar bhi my car on petrol gone crazy its civic 2003 manual when I drive it on petrol its pick is too bad even on normal road on hill section its even gone worse. Its too slow ... on normal road its comparatively little better . And another thing on normal road first slow pick rpm stuck between 3-4 thn all of sudden moves above 5 n car goes like rocket
