the 4 valve per cylinder engine with pentroof combustion chamber has the plug placed in ideal location, the flame front is in perfect dead center to start spreading, In your 2V/cyl engine the plug is usually in the side of the head and the combustion chamber is usually a wedge shape, side gapping such a plug can help 1% in such condition.

You cannot buy spark plugs for rotary engines in Pakistan, best get them from somewhere outside of Pakistan, But may I ask why? - do you own an old RX7? - because the RX8 came with iridium tipped plugs and they have very long life.

Not sure about distributor will check on my next visit my uncle say that a stupid mechanic swapped some corolla plug of too hot heat range and to save apex seals he just parked the car and later forgot about the car

your clutch has lost pressure - tell him to adjust it "early"

and change the clutch

Lost pressure means clutch cylinder needs to be replaced ? I have already changed it's kit but that's not helping much. M also thinking about replacing cluth n pressure plate along with the gear but not sure that they need replacement or not. How to check?

Early here means clutch starts working near to floor or away from the floor ?

rotary plugs do not have a projecting firing pole, if a "corolla" plug was used the apex seals will break as the plug actually protudes into the combustion chamber. Im assuming this mechanic put in an antifouler also to shorten the plug projection if he was even remotely paying attention.

these are poor numbers, 300 psi is the wear limit, valve job done anytime in its life. Did the engine run overcooled for part of its life?

Yes. Did valve job just before the compression test ... Might have run cold as I recently bought it. It has 211k on odometer. It had a starting problem but solved by valve job. The rest it's running fine. Great in fact. I've started using Mobil delvac mx 10/40. How long before I'll need an overhaul ???

Oh and Compression test was done on cool engine temperature and normal idling rpm

Just for info from Toyota manual for 1kzte applies to 120 and 90 series... Compression figures, standard 440 psi, min 284 psi, max variation 71 psi

JDM 4G15 Lancer must have done around 180k by now according to my calculations. Has started drinking oil slowly but surely, no signs on the exhaust, no white smoke yet, no evident leaks, coolant is still green like it's supposed to be not a drop gone missing. I understand the valve seals are done for, where do you think I could find a replacement and even if I do how common of a job is it to change these? I understand there are tricks to shortcut in this, our local mechanics I doubt would know such a thing? I could order the valve seals online but need to know whether this is a normal or extra ordinary job for the mechanics? I know most of them will try to upsell a overhaul but I am no fool and am afraid they will mess up a simple job just to have their way :s plus i have moved to Lahore which as you can understand is upsell central of Pakistan.

Check pcv valve and breather pipe first both can cause oil consumption check pcv valve and if it doesn't rattle spray some carb clean then again check if it doesn't rattle change it

The car as far as I am aware drives fine during this episode and the check engine light then disappears after a short while and everything is back to normal

What could be the reason for this occurrence? It has currently clocked 150,000km.

I feel this has started to happen after I poured in some LiquiMoly Oil Leak Stop to the engine oil but this is just a hunch.

Please could you guide me better?

You need to scan the car for code(s). The VSS might be giving problems, which is why when the speedo starts fluctuating, check light shows.

You will need to find a smart mechanic - the seals can be changed with head in place. The usual way this job is tackled in Pakistan is the cylinder head removal procedure.

You dont need to order anything online, they are available in retail in Pakistan.

Sorry sir I made a mistake on the idling part. The engine though was cold. How long till overhaul please ?
