@Xulfiqar, i have recently bought a brand new generator with a perkins engine, its a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine and water cooled with a belt driven fan. genset produces 22-25kva. it has the electronic display showing all engine parameters (oil pressure, battery and charging voltage, rpm etc).
the issue is the coolant temp never goes above 55C even if left for 4-5 hours running, it takes about 10 min for it to get to 54-55 and it stays there so far. How to know whether this engine has a thermostat in place or is it even functioning. or do diesel gensets that run at a constant 1500rpm never go above this temp?
further more the official distributor knows nothing about it and is technically pretty dumb. initially said to only let them service the engine and they were using 15W-40 ZIC engine oil and even overfilled it after the first initial oil change saying overfilled oil is good for new running engine as it will consume and settle down bla bla, and when i said they can get lost and i will do all oil and filter changes myself they said warranty may be void etc but when i asked them to show me where in the service sheet it was written to use this oil to overfill they looked through the space sheet and it actually said to use 5W-30 or 10W-30 engine oil but they said no thats for uk not here.
further howto know if this engine even has glow plugs, although the spec sheet says it has but when you touch the button it starts almost immediately and there is no seperate indication for glow plugs though it has no trouble starting yet.
so is it fine to let it run at 50C or something should be done about it?
currently i am using mobil delvac 1 5W-40 synthetic and mobil 1 coolant is that okay? initial hours were completed on factory filled oil whatever it was and a little hours on 15W-40 before i changed it. oil filter is OEM perkins
it takes a bit over 10 litres of engine oil and 7.5 litres of coolant. manual says oil and filter change intervals are 500 hours dependant on load factor, but isn't that too excessive?
