@xulfiqar during a recent motorway journey on my w203 the ac seemed to be hardly cooling with outside temps around 38-40C and would completely stop giving any cold air when in traffic or at standstill, however as soon as ambient temp dropped below 30C and after maghrib it started cooling very well just like any good system though when car was idled it will still blow less cool than while at moving. engine coolant remains steady and below 95C at all times.
however the complete giving up on day time seemed alarming and needs to be fixed, so far i have had the car on star diagnostics and it found no errors and the data is attached below, the refrigerant was recovered and recharged around a month back using a recovery machine, correct weight was charged (it was originally around 200 gram less than required weight) after that i drove the car mostly at night and ac didnt bother and worked well but on this motorway journey it was bad. blower is fine and airflow from vents is fine and there are no stuck flaps
however there are noticeable intermittent hissing sound from the dashboard at all times of the day and whenever it comes after a few seconds it starts to throw more cold air but then it stops. the tech says it needs a new compressor and condenser as this one trips and stops blowing cold and its common for these to fail early as they are continuously running. and he said itll take more than a day to replace and recharge etc.
what do you advise is wrong, bearing in mind the values shown on scanner and its intermittent operation and the fact that brand new compressors from mercedes arent exactly cheap so if i change a condenser and compressor with new one will this cure this problem or can it be an expansion valve or something else?
