btw I use lubegard conditioner a lot (red bottle) - any autogear I redo gets a bottle or two. Never an issue and the trans always works perfect - I used to have them in Pakistan too along with the shudder fix tubes.

@Xulfiqar well i am back with my daba shreef. Previously @syncview worked on it but we were stuck with its flat spots in its accelerations. Previous mechanics solved (not truly) by advancing the timing all the way. That caused backfires though.

Osama diagnosed that compression is low and as it was not smoking valves were the culprits. He did complete carburetor work and brought back to 8 BTDC

Recently another mechanic opened the head and valves were worn. Head had some metal loss which they filled by weld. New valves were added, seats were made, new seals.

Power has been restored. Flat spots are there and pretty noticeable. Increase on headlights ON.

NOTE: Previously another mechanic temporarily solved problem by bypassing resistance on coil (we changed the coil when osama worked on it)

Directions Please? At the moment distributor is all the way advance

ordered from USA - box of red and platinum and a box of antishudder tubes along with large containers of their assembly lube. I used to rebuild "haato" gearbuxa in Pakistan alot.

for changing atf, drain it, fill it up, remove the cooler line, start it up and remove all the dirty oil - then add fresh again till you see fresh atf being drained out.

I went to Shahnawaz Islamabad yesterday to have my W204's oil changed and on the way to their workshop, my car gave an error "Supplementary Restraint System Faulty Consult Workshop". When they checked the error code using Star Diagnostics, it said that the SRS module needs replacing. They told me that this is a common problem with most W204s and I don't need to be worried. The part will arrive in mid of July and it is a 6 hour job according to them.

Having the part replaced is not an issue but what mystifies me is that the car has only be driven 4000KMs under my ownership and that on very good roads so how did this error pop up? I never fiddled with any of the car's electronics and no roadside mechanic ever touched the car. Does this mean that I'll be needing to replace something else related to the SRS system soon? Should I get something else inspected regarding the SRS system?

Another thing; when they changed the oil, they told me that they'll put in 5w50 in the car because that is what MB recommends for our fuel and weather conditions. They told me that 0w40 is recommended for new cars only so they put in 5w50. Is this correct? On a side note, the car does feel much smoother now.

umm shahnawaz in lahore only use 0W-40, theyll only get you 5W-50 on request and even for my older car they reccomended 0W-40. I think either they ran out of stock so decided to convince you on 5W-50 or roza lag raha tha. there is nothing special or wrong about our conditions that you cant use 0W-40. I have been using it in my car since day one.

if you are using 5W-50 it may feel smoother because its a thicker oil but it will reduce the fuel economy and also cause a bit of drag on the engine reducing performance. and it may possibly over a very long period of time hurt the timing chain as well as on your m271 engines those are especially fragile.

oh and some of the w204 pre facelift ones suffered from a recall regarding SRS controller module. your is probably one of them. they do commonly go bad and it takes 6 hours because the whole centre console including the rear vents ashtray etc have to be removed to get to it.
how much are they charging you? I once had some recall work performed on my car, since like yours mine was a gray import they charged me for parts but in my case and based on my past experience with them they charged no labour costs for the job.

slap an efi kit on if from bilal gunj...the new dabba set up

btw, does the dabba have the genuine alternator or is it swapped?

you just solved your issue, the system is overloaded - at 350 psi liquid, I beleive the outside temperature is quite high and the 60 on low also says that (about closing to 50C ambient). this slightly higher low side can also be a sticky expansion valve due to moisture in the system. (not vacuuming)

anyway you have a condenser cooling issue or some adulteration in the system.

Assalamo a laikum zufiqar bhai... i have honda city i-dsi and the fuel average dropped to 10 a litre and i decided to get a tuneup. The mechanic cleaned the spark plugs and the throttle. ... being a pakistani mechanic he had to mess up something and he did.. now the cars rpm has gone crazy... it was stable at 700 on idle before... now it goes up to 1300.. come down... and keepa jittering between 700 to 900 on idle.... and when the ac is on... and u press the accelerator, the rpm goes up, and when u let go the accelerator the rpm drops to ike 200 300 ans the engine almost stalls. .. giving a bad shiver to the car.. though the car remains start .... now when i shift gears with ac the rpm drops and the car give a ghakta... also on a signal or whenever u put the car in neutral and let go the accelerator.. the rpm drops to 200 300 and then jumps to 1300 1500 and then finals comes to 700.... what the heck happened and how can i fix this? He said he will fix it but i am.not going to him fearing he will mess it up ever more..

He has successfully introduced vacuum leak. Either he adjusted the throttle screw or something. its also possible that butterfly developed space after cleaning the gunk

Yes, I read about that recall online. They told me that they were having an audit due to Eid so they didn't give me a price estimate. They did tell me to keep at least 2lakhs in my pocket lol. The price on ebay is about $1000-1300 so I'm expecting to pay around 2lakhs due to shipping costs and import duties etc... I'll try to convince them to fix the part under the recall but I doubt it that they would because they didn't import the car neither does it have any extended warranty etc...

About the oil, they did have 0w40 in stock because they were putting it in a W212 there. They didn't want to change the oil because they could not give me a bill at that time (the audit issue). The bill is going to be posted to my house after Eid. They insisted that I come after Eid however I persuaded them to do it. The car does not feel slugish however the RPM at idle has dropped. It used to be 800 previously now its at 700-750 sometimes. I think that is because the oil is thicker? The car has become much more responsive now.

The timing chain problem is a worry on high mileage cars (above 200,000KMs). Usually it has some symptoms like a rough idle, tick tick sounds from the engine. I asked Shahnawaz about that too. They told me that they had replaced about 40 timing chains of pre facelift W204s last year According to them, it isn't too big of a problem if you're ready to pay for the parts and have the time. They just told me to never let water near the car's air intake.

You wouldn't believe this but they also replaced a facelift W204 (C200 CGI) engine because somehow the pistons got bent. They showed me the bill on their computer.
