Coolant serves 2 purposes
1) saves cooling system from rust
2) raise boiling and freezing point
But water handles heat better

Cooling system ki wiring check kraen , ac pe fan direct hota hai always . Agar cooling system thik hai to water pe b heatup ni Hoti car . Muje lag ra hai koi sensor kharab hai ya wiring issue hai , relay fan Wala change Kar k check Kar Len

But fan comes up OK when temp rises. Means relay is OK and wiring too

Means water doing its purpose. But it happens only once or twice whole day that too in traffic. And has started just today

@tintin1 the issue has started just from yesterday all at once. its showing overheating in traffic only and once car is moving its at 50% again - no issues. i suspect a bad water pump that is not circulating water as per requirement. as a precaution i plan to change it. what say?

I have changed the solonieds valve body located underneath the battery , with 3 small tube valves, car is very much better with soft shifting, now i am planning to change shift solonieds A as well to see if it will further shift softer

Hi,
Is it safe to pour transmission oil in Honda Civic 2003 other than Honda ATF DW1? If yes than what are the options. Honda ATF DW price is 1250/liter and Honda ATF DW1 1440/liter whereas other brands like ZIC and Kixx ATF avaialble in range of Rs. 500 to 600 per liter.

A few possible reasons :

• lack of anti-freeze (coolant) means reduced boiling point .. steam is produced resulting in less eficiency
• Fan is not giving enough air
  ~~ the blades have straightened (happens with age)
  ~~ the blades have reduced in size (edges reduces with time)
• radiator fins r choked
• oil is diluted .. not changed for long .. usually raise in temp on high speeds is attributed to this issue
• water body bearing is ceasing but it gives a sound like loose fan belt or weak bearing sound

assuming the engine is good, valve timing is correct and valve seats r ok
