Corolla 2010 with 180k on odometer with stock clutch is slipping heavily. Have decided to change clutch plate along with pressure plate. Any thing else that I should change along with it ? If cluth fluid is at level should I still drain and refill it with fresh fluid or better not to touch it ? Clutch response is great except slipping issue. Also if clutch fluid needs changing which fluid is required and how much. Thanks

Inspect the clutch release bearing. If needed replace it as well.
If fluid is never changed before then it's the best time to do it.

replace all 3 things clutch plate + Clutch bearing + Pressure plate. Also specification of clutch oil should be written on the cap of oil reservoir. better to change the clutch oil as well since its been 10 years or more.

Yes kindly elaborate this term "Slipping" clutch, mostly used by mechanics; which usually means that clutch plate has went bad/ dead

So what is the difference between slipping clutch, weak clutch and dead clutch?

What is the remedy of slipping clutch, replacement or sort of repair?

No i have not changed anything . But what I meant was that the car does not jitter or vibrate on engaging/disengaging the clutch, this is something that happen with a rough flywheel. Also the car have no difficulty in shifting gear, something that happens with a rusty slave cylinder. What does happen is only slipping of the clutch when I fully press accelrator in a high gear

That filter is probably the wrong height and is messing with the bypass valve pressure. (The bypass valve is the standpipe in the filter cup)

Cheapo filters dont usually work on toyota cup filters.

A lot of people think that the new filters are just paper elements rolled around.

Guard probably is making them wrong!

A slipping clutch will never vibrate the engine as it literally has no friction left (ultimate smooth)

The hydraulic part will keep on working even if your friction material is completely gone.

What you have is a dead clutch, you need to replace that, and most probably your flywheel is blued too from excess slippage.

i think you got wrong size Gaurd Filter. You need to have exact filter for your vitz. it works perfectly fine in vitz. i have been using gaurd filter in suzuki (Gaurd is their OEM) and Vitz for years without any issues however change interval is strictly 5000 KMs and using orignal toyota oil in vitz always.

Anyways however best is to use OEM filter and oil. that is best for your car. however in case of choosing an alternate, Gaurd works perfectly fine. just need to opt for the exact and correct part replacement size.

think you got wrong size Gaurd Filter.

No dear it was exactly same in size to the oem. Size was perfect. I checked both oem and the guard one after the guard one was dismantled.
My hunch is that since you are using guard filter for years and have not such ocd to car sounds like me hence it is all good.

You know vitz has a filter compartment/housing and you have to fit in a paper filter media inside. If the size is wrong, it will never fit in the housing.
In other engines like 2nzfe or 2sz the filter media is enclosed in a metal shell and one can fit any fitler if the threads match. In my corolla i can mount yzze1 yzze2 yzzn2 just because the threads fit in but car performs best on e1.

I have 3rd gen vitz with 1krfe. Inspired by discussions in some threads on pw which guide us that we are wasting money on orig filters and in a fraction of price we can buy guard filters. I went to metro to avoid chances of counterfeit and bought guard filters and installed guard oil and air filter on my recent oil change. This car is driven by my betterhalf and she reported that car is noisy. As she is not that technical so I thought that may be because of cold winters she felt the engine sound to be high.
Moving on I drove the car on motorway the other day and it was sounding very rough and noisy especially on S mode. I also observed weird engine sound in local drive. By now the car was driven for 500km on the new oil and air filter. I took it today to the Toyota dealership for brake service and tires rotation where I discussed the issue with my trusted foreman and i was attributing it to the transmission as the sound was more prominent on S mode. I also shared the history of oil change and guard filters with him and he immediately said that nothing is wrong with transmission and it is the oil filter. For a moment I thought that he is trying to sell me oil filter but since he is very friendly and trustworthy I decided to give it a shot. Oem filter was for 2500 pkr against the guard one which was for 300. As soon as the new filter was installed the car engine was smooth again and sounds were gone. Took a test drive and no sounds in S mode as well while pick also increased. The foreman said that these filters restrict oil flow burdening the oil.pump and engine and in longer run also damages vvt actuator leaving a permanent sound. I have written this all essay to have your expert opinion on this because guard filter was very economical for me but this ordeal disposed my plan to go economical. Your expert opinion on this issue is solicited please.

The guard oil and oil filters to be avoided at all cost, the money saved can not buy human safety and health of car.

With your expirence I now have 3 stories of guard brand worst quality. It can even cause engine failure due to fatigue on big end bearings and what not.

So avoid this at all costs.

i use an alternate of the same size that is for YZZE1 if i am not wrong. dont change the inner filament in outer metal housing actually.

so their are 2 types of oil filters than. i dont use only filament replacement. i change the whole thing.

I use Taglon 5w-50 always. but my car is 2SZ FE 1300 CC orignally.
