Assist me in working out an itinerary for Soon valley!

Assalam o alaiqum. I am considering another trip to Soon valley soon. I was there during February this year and visited Uchhali, khabeiki, kk lakes and also visited katas. Now I am considering namal/jhalar lake, mianwali and kalabagh. Please advise if it is safe to visit these areas and any other information that may be helpful.

What other places may I tag in to the itinerary.

yes neelawahn springs is a nice place but kanhatti garden is in a bad shape and has nothing special to see.. i dont recommend going there, if u can get entry into sakesar base then that would be good.. as far as security situation of kalabagh and mianwali is concerned, i dont think there should be any problem

Valley is safe & you can add Kanhatti gardens, Dip Sharif & Skaiser Top.

Canhatti Gardens is on yur right as you drive on the main Soan Sakesar Road there is a sign board you can not miss it. Dip Shareef is further down on the same road it comes to your left a couple of kms before Uchali Lake. There is a sign board there as well. For both locations car can go but you have to walk a bit to reach the stream/pond area. Neelvan is on the main Khusab Road just after about twenty mins drive from Kalar Kahar. The land marks are graveyard on the left and water tank on the right. You can park your car near the garve yard and take the track going down adjacent to the grave yard. It is a 40+ min trek dwon to the spring and it takes 60+ mins to climb back. It is a pretty steep climb and track is rocky. You can see the pics on the followiwng link:

Guys, kids want to add Khewra salt mines to the itinerary.

Please suggest route and time needed to reach the mines from kallar kahar lake.

It should take you about one hour. Cross the M2 and take Choa Saidaan Shah Road. It takes you straight to Khewra. You can also visit Katas Raj temples on the way.

It will be better to add Khewra either at start or at the end of your trip..If you will be coming from lahore and want to start your trip with Khewra salt mines...I would suggest you to leave the motorway at Lilla Interchange ( After Bhera and just before start of salt range ) and go towards pind dadan khan...Continue your journey towards choa saiden shah after visiting Khewra mines, visit Katas Raj and the same road will take you to Kaller Kahar..If you leave Lahore a bit early ,You should easily reach Kaller Kahar till evening after visiting both the places ( Khewra mines and Katas Raj temples ). Road condition from Khewra to Choa Saidan shah needs to be confirmed before travelling.

Thanks for the advice. I will tag salt mines towards the end of trip. From Khewra, I have to come back to Kallar Kahar (via choa saidan shah) for exit to Lahore?

If you intend to visit Khewra at the end then your route should be as under :

Kaller Kahar to choa saidan shah ( as advised by Incognito59 )
Visit Katas Raj and carry on the same road towards Khewra
Khewra to pind dadan khan and then join the motorway at Lilla interchange ( Approx 25 Km from Pind dadan Khan)
No need to go back to Kaller Kahar...

The road to Khewra via Choa Saidan Shah was in good shape early last year and it is a a nice drive with some scenic views.
