ATF for W202, W210 earlier 722.6 trans?

the procedure is pretty simple

get in car close door fully - make sure nothing is on

put key in ignition turn to ON position

press accelerator to floor (engage kickdown switch) for 5 seconds

turn key off (do not pull out)

release accelerator pedal

wait in car for about 3 minutes.

this resets the trans to factory shift setting which is very aggressive. The larger the engine the more difference felt. Usual case is that the trans learns that you are a lazy driver due to driving slow.

btw you may or may not experience it - because I dont know if you drive like a limo driver or absolute maniac

@xulfiqar, I read in a forum when you reset trans, car shud drive and shift manually 1-2 gear rpm to redline for shift adoption or like that?

mixing Lubegard (platinum)with multi-vehicle 236.10 atf is beneficial?

MB STAR system has a thorough adaptation where it takes 2 people to do it while driving. its a very long process and requires the engine to be stone cold.

btw for this sequence, its nothing more than a soft reset.

lubegard is great in multivehicle atfs - really reduces operating temperatures too.

@Xulfiqar for MB NAG1, How i pour Lubegard (atf additive) in trans, it is important if i drain same amount of atf of lubegard for correct level or just mix it as it is actuall level?

How much Lubegard required for 7.5 ltr capacity, 296ml whole bottle is enough for 7.5 fluid?

It is necessary mix it with new atf or can be use it with slightly used or good condition atf?

how about "Lucas trans fix" ~ "Slick 50 high millage auto-trans treatment" or which additive you prefer if lubegard not avail?

can i use both (Lucas & lubegard mix together) or which one as a substitute of lubegard?

currently using "Meguin Variable" in Nag1 722.6 which shift firmly , but "Meguin ATF smooth" 236.12 ~ 236.14 was really very smooth.

just it changed for 236.10 requirement, not found shell 3403 m115, only found shell s4 3403 no "M115" mentioned,it was in drum at a shell dealer, don't know it will good or worst for MB 722.6?

But i prefer "Meguin variable" from direct importer, (LM-1200 & Meguin varible both are same)

the S4 3403 is the new name for Shell 3403M115. Its the factory original ATF for your transmission. No need to use any additive with it.

the factory shift characteristics of the NAG1 are very aggressive. If you drive gently it will learn that you are a gentle driver and then do softer and earlier shifts, You can also switch to W to start in 2nd gear for softer shifts.

In any case the SHO saab called ESP will not allow you to go nuts - unless you switch it off - even then the SHO deputes his ASI - so you still cannot go completely sideways.

Few days back i called Shell pakistan head offie in khi, they give me number of his whole saler in lahore, i called themm they says it is available in drum, but it is 236.9 not 10?

If it avail in drum then shud i use it? i avoid cuz it might be contaminated.

For that confusion i told to my one friend in US for Lubegard.

btw the mix ratio for lubegard is that the little bottle is good for 7 or 8 litres. It says to mix at 1oz per quart on the bottle.

Shell ATF S4 3403 is also compatible with 236.9 - but it is actually 236.10 ATF.

HDX is not S4-3403 - HDX is Dex 3-G ATF which lacks the extra modifiers used in 3403. This is fantastic fluid for old transmissions tho. Its very tough ATF.

nopes - not suitable. Keep the same LM fluid in there - its good too.

If you find 3403 you would have to do any of the following.

1 buy
2 steal
3 shoplift under gunpoint
4 paiyaa jaam strike

The lucas and trans fix are used in dead transmissions - dont use in yours. The only additive that performs its job is the lubegard.

For the trans fluids - both are suitable but are meant for NAG2 gearbox - they will perform just like the meguin smooth did.
