CD70 & CG125, It would be no way wrong if I call these two bikes the identification of two wheelers in Pakistan. Both have been loved & accepted by our generations. People love them for what they are & how they are. But as an brand such an giant brand like "Honda" has done nothing to introduce any features or technology since decades & decades. Its chinese manufactures who are always at front to introduce some features in bikes. Sensing the little bit demand for change Atlas Honda have tried introduce little bit of changes but people have become so used to the same shape. New changes even introduced by Honda have been rejected by people. Honda Deluxe (I guess 2006) slowly became hit but no way near to sales of CG125. CG125 Dream (2014) version with sporty shape completely rejected by people. I am not going into complete details of these bikes & reason for failure. But at the end they did not give any competition to CG125 Classic. Finally in the 2019 CG125 gets the self start only feature since its birth in Pakistan. I would not call 2012 Euro 2 conversion an feature on govt: policy they had to convert it to euro standards.
It was Yamaha's entry in 2015 & at the same time GS150 was gaining decent response as tourism bike. Honda No: 1 brand in Pakistan finally introduced an complete new bike & finally with an new engine. Later on Yamaha's YBZ in 2017 finally after than our legendary CG125 got an self start though engine was kept same Ohv.
Now from here I will discuss about this legendary bike which is nations symbol of power & pride. Admit to the fact that this bike's simplest light weight shape people find it practical along with that obviously from decades this bike has remained same. So parts availability from genuine to many different local vendors is unmatchable add resale & mechanics availability. Honda CG125 name is nothing shame about one of the most successful model still in production worldwide people love this word CG. Brazil people are lucky Honda has given them best CG series bikes great performance by time introduced changes engine was changed with Ohc 125cc now available as CG160. Features like Sporty looks, Efi, CBS & ABS. CG125 OHV engine still in production yes the engine that our people love. Honda Wuyang in china infact has upgraded OHV CG125 with Efi now & strong chassis. CG125 is also available in Philippine with OHV engine.
I am not discussing about CG Brazil. I have few threads already about this bike. And looking at Atlas Honda we can only dream about that. But Atlas Honda atleast take few things from CG model available in China or Philippine version. Efi we can only dream about Ahl would ever bother to introduce. But least least take some things we deserve some thing better than what we are every year getting just the new graphics. We deserve little bit of better riding experience & utility. CG125 Special edition launched at high price but still lacking features dipper switch, engine kill switch, gear indication & most important almost same chassis. They tried to improve it but still not good enough. strong chassis would help in reducing vibrations. They changed the handle but no balancer weights which helps in aborbing some vibrations from handle & same old style grips. Giant hub at rear proven as spokes broker and good quality normal size hub can do the job. CGSE seems to be fail as well despite being same shape of most loved bike. Reason is nothing but the lack of power & top speed. CG125 4 gear is no doubt only loved for acceleration, top speed & sound. Every owner is proud of it and simply almost whole nation love it. Hopefully Honda in return should do some thing for this love and try to offer some thing other than just stickers.
Wuyang Honda CG125 in China this is also imported in Vietnam. They have kept overall shape same simple of CG125 actually typical of older CG. But fuel system in now Efi & chassis is improved. Compare to our cg we see better quality grip & switch assembly. Handle has balancing weights & meter same design but gear indication & engine check light. Seat cushioning improved
This Honda Tmx 125 Philp: not much advanced but maintenance free filter is very good improvement. Don't know about chinese wuyang cg it may be also having maintenance free filter.
Conclusion: Honda as an brand has been unfair. We don't have bigger hopes from them. But this is atleast some thing they should do or try to do. A Pakistani fan who is true lover CG atleast should get some thing better in CG than getting stickers every year.
