So... Do you really think that a Chinese 125cc motorcycle will have worse fuel consumption than the ones that come out of AHL Showrooms?
People talk about fuel economy as if its a universal law that applies on everything with an internal combustion engine and that often lead them into clashes and fights!
The thing is; there are a TON of variables involved when it comes to fuel consumption and its quite hard to give a definite answer.
Riding style, outdoor temperatures, elevation, oil viscosity, the condition of cylinder (worn pistons, leaking gaskets and/or a bad spark-plug can dramatically reduce your mileage) and average speed are the determine factors.
Like I said; a TON of variables!
Tell you what; I've an ancient Yamaha 2-Stroke and it constantly returns 35-38km/l. And yet you'll see people who report much worse fuel economy at around 25-30km/l.
Reason?
I ride like a grand father. I shift quickly and try to get in 4th ASAP, almost always rev match my downshifts, I don't rev the bike hard and I don't have an annoying tendency of revving my bike in neutral at a stop light, just to look 'cool'. I also use oils as recommended by the bike's manual and I often check spark plug (2-Strokes chew through plugs like a maniac!), clean out the air filter, top up the motor oil and clean the cooling fins.
And that's why it still sound and perform today as it did on day-1 even though its a 17 year old motorcycle!
Take care of your ride and it'll take care of you! It's just give and take, brother!
Good Day!
