Hello.
I've been thinking about buying a German car for a few months now and have limited my options to the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4 2017. I'm not considering the C180 as I don't want to pay 7 million for a base model.
Now I'm a stickler for driving dynamics. I'm looking to buy a high-end car for weekend use. I won't be using it to ferry family or luggage. For this reason my first choice was the 3 Series. I have driven the 318i and found it to be nimble, agile, and very fun. My gripe with the car is that the interior feels very dated and the base model doesn't have any good options. If I spec it up I might as well buy the C180. I wish that BMW hadn't gone down to the 3-cylinder engine and that Dewan offered more engine choices but that's not the case. Despite its rear-wheel drive bias, the car is down on BHP compared to both its rivals.
I only started looking at the Audi A4 2017 after I had more or less convinced myself that the 3 Series was the way to go. I'm glad that I checked it out. Even the base model has tons of kit and you don't really need to spec it up. Features like paddle shifters, sun roof, 3-zone climate control, cruise control, 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system, electronically adjustable seats with lumbar support and a whole lot more is standard. Its 4-cylinder 1.4TFSI Turbo is up on BHP as well and I've heard great things about Audi's DCT 7-speed automatic transmission.
So I'm caught between having to decide whether I should buy the 3 Series because it's more oriented to driving dynamics but offers an interior and tech from ten years ago or the A4 2017 which feels much more premium than the price tag would suggest. I've already driven the 3 Series but since Audi Pakistan doesn't give test drives, I don't know how the A4 2017 works as a driver's car.
If you, or anyone you know, owns this car then I would love to hear your views. Please do give any suggestions that you might have as well. If you can share anything at all that would be relevant to this little dilemma I have here, I will forever be grateful to you.
