Most of the importers are importing cars from Japan. Is anyone importing from Australia.

some of the vigos in PK are form australia, same applies to alot of toyotas in PK.... not sure about other brands though.

a very few landcrusiers and prado and very few vigos made it here form australia but not worth its as japan frieght is much cheaper also the cars over there wernt tht top spec as japanese!! but a few 4.0ltr prado we see on the roads are from australia rest are from uk as prices arent tht cheap in australia and vigo we see are from thailand and south africa!! never seen a vigo here from australia but have seen and driven a prado and landcruiser from austalia jap and uk spec are much better!

its not at all feasible to be importing cars from Australia because they do not tend to depreciate there as much as they do in countries like the UK and Japan.. So for importers, there is a bigger profit margin in cars that they import from the UK or Japan because used cars cost considerably less there as opposed to Australia...

For instance, a certain model of bmw would cost almost half as much in the UK or Japan as it would otherwise in Australia, because the Australian market is much smaller than that of the other two countries.. And secondly, as one of the other members noted, cars in the UK and japan are better specced which customers prefer.. so yea, there's no point in importing cars from australia... unless someone wants to import an HSV Maloo

u could import a holden HSV pickup which is a beast at a commerical duty rate meaning less duty!

used cars are very expensive...all over the market is high for cars whether its new or used,so its kinda useless importing from Australia.

If you want a performance one like the FPV than it would be good.

but in UK your paying in pounds and UK is overall an expensive market for anything. even a cotton shirt costs 50 pounds

You're talking about the UK's market... wait, let me make things easier for you..

here are prices for the exact same cars (apart from the colour of course) in the UK and Aus (and thats just one example), now compare both of them... convert AU$62,000 into British Pounds (@ of 1AU$ ~ 0.57 B.P) and that translate into around 35,000 British Pounds, whereas the same car costs 18,000 in the UK... Australians pay almost TWICE as much for the same car.. how cool is that?

As I said before, cars are generally expensive in australia, and to make things worse, they do not even depreciate in value as quickly as they do in other developed countries, like the UK for instance, or even Japan... don't even think about comparing prices with the US's market, you'll get a heart attack...!!

Since Hyundai has exited the japanese market i thought of getting the hyundai from Australia. Thanks for the info about australian car market. Looks like UK is a better option. Hyundai i30 or Toyota Auris will have to decide.

dude, what does that even mean?

its australia, not afghanistan that someone can just take any car and drive it into pakistan.. there's a huge-a$$ sea in between..
