Automatic Car Trunk Opener

AOA, I have tried to install automated trunk opening mechanism in my Corolla 2010. This project is divided into 2 parts. Links to the project are in the end.

1. Electrical.
2. Mechanical.

Electrical:
We have to use car security system so that trunk can be opened via car remote. For this we need to install a motor in car trunk (Image 1). Every car security system has a function i.e. when it's unlock key is kept pressed after it has been unlocked, it will send a signal to left bit which can be used even otherwise. I have used this bit to trigger car trunk motor.

Mechanical:
I have tried variety of springs for this project because we need potential energy for opening of the trunk. Hence when we actually close trunk it requires a bit more effort and that is moment when actually potential energy is stored in trunk for next opening. Whenever unlock key is kept pressed for 3 seconds this energy is released from spring and trunk is opened. (Image 2).

Cost:
Springs - 1415 (A pair, although I have used only one but I will use second one in my other corolla).
Motor - 200
Electrical wiring - 100
Etc - 100

Pros & Cons:
I need to adjust this spring since trunk is opening with a lot of momentum. I have made a dual adjustment myself for this.

What you have done is how mercedes w124 and w210 trunk lid is setup but you have used too stiff spring. Use two gentler but longer springs on either side.

What you can do is an oldschool bmw setup, they used a gas spring to pop the lid to full open.

Thank you for such a nice suggestion. Actually I am now trying to think about opening as well as closing of the lid so probably would be using stepper motor.

Can you brief this project as in I am also interested in this project but not finding the appropriate wiring diagram of Steel Mate through which I can judge output wires to wire up with trunk motor.

I am not using steelmate and not aware of it, although usual security systems send a pulse if car open key is kept press for 3 seconds or longer. You may try with your security system. I have schematic for the project in Lahore, will share on whatsapp if required on Monday.
