In yours the OD button is replaced with the lever markings of 3-2-L

to shift out of OD, just move the lever to 3 - thats same as locking the O/D off button.

no. if you keep it at 3. it wont shift to 4th gear.

high rpm = more hp to climb a mountain etc. shifting to OD while climbing uphill is not good.

same case when you have to do double shot overtake maneuvers on highway, you want to keep it in 3rd gear to keep up the juice and power. (you need all the help from your tiny engines)

Overdrive is now a very weird term and not used for final gear, e.g. ZF 8 spd auto in new BMWs - has 2 overdrives, 7-8 are overdrive gears. The Toyota 8 sped auto also has 2 overdrives.

GM 10 spd automatic has 3 overdrives, 8-9-10 are overdrive gears.

D - engages all forward ratios and also TCC lockup - are you confusing TCC as a gear?

So if a transmission has no D3 like in @def3nder's car then if he not press OD button then it will not engage 4th gear in a 4 speed automatic??

Yes you can from 0-160km/h you can shift btw D and D3
