Automatic Transmission problem

I have honda accord 1987. It was running good. But a month back its transmission started giving problem. When I start the car and put it in D4, it does not move. I try to move it by putting in D3 but again it refuses to move. So I have to put it in 2 to move it. I took it to some mechanics, they told that there is a problem in my car's transmission. You will have to replace it. Since automatic transmission is very complicated so no one in Pakistan is capable of repairing it. Please suggest what should I do. From where can I have this complete transmission. Thanks

This problem happens when first clutch pistons get sticky, caused by worn out rubber O rings or extremely worn out brake band. On your model it also is due to some sludgy material in the valve body galleries.

You wont be able to find this transmission, but you can surely find people who can repair it. Its not very complicated for an experienced person. The biggest problem with Honda autos is that they do not have a sump to service the filter. To clean it out full tear down is required. Which is 80% of the work of rebuild.

when did u change the oil last time? gear oil?

Great....Thanks for your reply. So I should go for repair. Would I be able to find the rubber rings and clutch pistons. Do you think this is the only reason for transmission malfunctioning. Also please tell me some who can do this.

Go to Nazir autos in Sector G8. Nazir Automobiles & Electric House.

They are expert of auto transmissions in Isb. They charge a lot :). You can get an opinion from them.

No need to waste money with anyone ...just contact Rehman Autos and get it fixed in first try. You can consult the problem on phone with them and proceed later for maintenance hope it helps

I have a similar problem with my toyota corolla 2001. When the car is started in the morning when it is cold the gear does not engage when I put in D. I have to get it moving in D2 or L. But once it starts moving the gear shifting is smooth and no problem.
