First thing get 1.8 Cvti if you have funds. It's true value for money, new engine + transmission + air bag and lot other goodies and more power.

1. Any difference in any department of car you felt when the car was new and now?

No diff

1. Any issues/problems, even minute ones, faced by you, so far?

None, except from a bit misaligned steering which 3S fixed in five minutes

1. I am planning to go for super white as it is the easiest colour to maintain, and requires less quantum of detailing. What would be your input?

Too much white colour cars we already have in PK. But if you like it go for it. detailing is not compulsory, I see majority satisfied with Surf, hair shampoo, Cosmic and serviiiiiiiiiiiis station

1. How much is 0-100 Km response time if you have done it so far?

I never did this in my entire life with any of my car. So not an issue for me

1. How would you rate your current Corolla as compared to your last Corolla, in terms of pick, acceleration, and mileage.

It's way way better. I love every aspect of it. Mileage is though 11+ so far

1. Any other advice, which you would like to give to some one opting for Altis 1.6, after owning one yourself.

Though 1.6 is a balanced package but Get 1.8

Funds are no problem, but main problem is resale of 1.8 as I have experienced 1.8 owners complaining about its poor resale. As compared to 1.3 and 1.6, 1.8 doesn't enjoy good resale. Though, I can ignore the resale factor to some extent, but it has so far been the greatest impediment in going for 1.8 CVT.

Nevertheless, I wanted to ask you another thing: Why didn't you go for grande. If you were short of funds, you could have sold your Mehran and easily fetched enough to buy the grande rather than 1.6? Apologies if I am becoming too personal, but I have been thinking this question for a while? Thank you very much once again for your kind reply sir.

You are very right sir. The price difference between Altis 1.6 and 1.8 Non Grande is 2 lac but following are the additional things present in 1.8 Non Grande and not in 1.6

Auto retractable side mirrors

SRS Air bag

MID LCD

Rear reclining seats

CVTi transmission

200 cc more powerful engine

Full chrome front grill

Fog lamps

Keyless entry with remote trunk opener

8 inch android based infotainment with internet connectivity option and navigation maps included

Cruise Control

Better quality seat covers

Chrome lining door handles etc to name a few

Well in Toyota only Xli and Gli (1.3 variants) have resale. Rest be it 1.6 or 1.8, they are slow to go and do not appreciate like Xli-Gli. I had already stretched my budget from 1.3 to 1.6 and the next step was another 224,500 PKR away.

Altis 1.6 AT 1,972,000+50,000= 2,022,000 (price inclusive of Islamabad freight)
Altis 1.8 CVTi 2,171,500+75,000= 2,246,500

I kept Mehran because we need another car at home.

For these things. i must say that two lac is worth to spend. If i have no issue of budget then i would have gone for 1.8 CVti.

Sir, I have been following this thread since its beginning. I was a bit confused in deciding between Altis 1.6 and Altis 1.8 CVT (Non Grande) but I will now be going to book Altis 1.6 soon, In shaa Allaah.

I have read your initial reviews about Altis 1.6. Now, since you have completed 5K mileage, can you answer these questions:

I was in exactly same situation few months back. I opted 1.8 varient. Autophile has very valid point. If additional 2 lacs is not issue then no point in going for 1.6. If u r concerned abt Resale then buy gli with closed eyes.

What i think is 1.6 is a safe bet. May be i would be wrong but if someone is going for 1.3 A/T only for resale then i would suggest him to go for 1.6. One has to install infotainment system, alloy rims, and few upgrades in 1.3 ( let say 70k cost on these upgrades) and on the time of selling the cost of these upgrades would not be included in selling cost. so basically one will be still loosing money in GLI because Gli is near to the cost of Altis 1.6 at the time of selling due to ad on prices included in overall Gli price.

Also at the time of resale, people compare resale price from factory price of specific variant so you are loosing money on ad ons but these ad ons are added in 1.6 on factory price so one will compare factory price at the time of buying used Altis 1.6 and that Altis 1.6 will fetch more money then 1.3 (because in the end due to these ad ons 1.3 price is near to 1.6 price but on selling 1.3 these ad on will not matter to buyer due to buyer's comparison of 1.3 price to factory price of 1.3 variant) on its resale and people on hilly areas near islamabad may prefer 1.6 over 1.3 in two to three year when resale will matter to us.

Clean plugs at 20K. Your car has Laser Iridiums being 2ZR-FE. Replacement at 100K km.

I did not check when they opened up spark plugs. I don't think 1.6 also has Iridiums

sir you have opted the right choice of oil grade, I think 10w30 is perfect for this car but my only concern is, why didn't you go for Toyota Genuine Motor Oil imported from japan. its also 10w30, only difference is, this one is SN and petron+ is SM.
according to my knowledge SN is better.

It is also genuine motor oil from Japan branded by Mobil

Brother I do own a 1.6 but if I had budget, I would have definitely gone for 1.8 variant whether it's Grande or non Grande..
In my opinion both 1.6 and 1.8 has slow resale as compare to 1.3. So I don't think one should opt for 1.6 instead of grande keeping in view the resale factor..
One thing which is arguable is that non Grande version of 1.8 altis has poor resale as compare to Grande version.
When one has 22-23 lac in his pocket then he/she thinks of getting top of the line variant.
Go for Grande eyes closed. It's a different machine altogether with lots of goodies, which 1.6 lacks.
Rest is up to you..

Yes SN is the latest and somewhat better, but SM is also just fine

In grande the spark plugs need to be opened and cleaned at 20000kms. And in 1.6 , it's the same plugs as in grande.

A friend in US has sent me 10 oil filter elements. I also had one spare at home which I swapped for my 9th Gen's so in total I have 11 filters and I forgot to take one along for replacement.
