Good day to all fellow pakwheelers,
Assalamulaikum!
This thread is for the sole purpose of awareness/warning for others who can become a victim of such thefts.
Some thieves have found a new way of grasping money from the helpless elderly of our society; around four such incidents have taken place in the previous three to four moths in our capital. Even the father of an S.H.O became the victim of such an heinous crime. This is what happened today to my grandfather.
As usual it was the first of a new month, and my grandfather had to go to f-8 markaz to get his pension money. With a check book in his right hand and a wallet in his left, he walked without fear, alone, in and out of the bank on numerous occasions. This time, though, it was different. While walking back to his car which was parked a few blocks away due to the heavy traffic of the "kacheri," he was followed by an elderly man.
The elderly said " Look at what the country has come to. That man(pointing at a guy running a few meters away) just stole a bag full of money from someone. That poor guy!"
Being a humble man my grandfather expressed his gratitude and was proceeding towards the car. Where he was intersected by a young individual, breathing heavily
the youngster said" Have you seen a guy with a bag in his hand, running."
the other elderly pointed towards the direction the "Supposed" thief went to.
A few moments later the youngster returned holding the thief by the collar. The thief gave up and took out the bag from his pocket. Without further to do the youngster opened the bag and with an awestruck face exclaimed to the elderly "This bag had a gold chain, he still has it(pointing towards the thief)"
thief:" No,I swear that I don't have your gold chain. This was all I had. One of them must have took it(pointing at my grandfather and the other elderly)"
My grandfather was outraged when the youngster demanded him to empty his pockets. On the other hand, the other elderly agreed to the demands.
While my grandfather was in an argument with the youngster he put his hand on my grandfather's shoulder. In his hand he had a slightly wet napkin.
That did it. THE NAPKIN WAS SOAKED WITH Chlorophorm.
My grandfather woke up an hour later. His pockets absent with the belongings he once possessed. In this delusional state he asked a guard standing nearby as to what had happened.
Guard:" I don't know, I thought the were with you. As you fell they were looking after you, patting your head. They were going to get the doctor."
Turns out, all four of them were in on this. the elderly, the crook, the youngster and a driver sitting in a BLACK HONDA CIVIC on the opposite road. Took around 100,000 rs in cash, check book, license, id card, Islamabad club card, credit card, debit card.
This kind of a theft is an all new for me. the police officer at the local police station told me that 4 or so such incidents have took place in different sectors of ISB and all to the elderly.
Thank you for reading. May God Protect Us All.
