Babusar Pass On Mehran. Is it Possible?

this is not possible on a mehran. or your friends will have to pull your car at every massive incline. your ride will get damaged . better you take the road of mahsehra to besham , via KKH and skip babusar pass.

It is do able dear i have almost crossed this top on every kind of vehicle ..the driving experience over there is amazing

the pass normally opens some times on end june but do verify security scenario there before moving..

Yes. It is certainly doable. Dont underestimate mehran. As you have said it is a mehran euro II so it would be a relatively newer vehicle. Please ensure that your mehran is working perfectly before leaving. I mean there are no issues with radiator and cooling, ignition, fuel system etc. Sometimes new mehrans have minor warranty issues which if not managed early on can leave you stranded which is not good while travelling to these areas where repair facilities are poor to non-existent. Do check weather and road conditions prior to your travel.

Only disadvantages of mehran are probably lack of 4x4 or comfort. Mehran has certain other advantages for sure; apart from higher ground clearance than other cars (not jeeps,) like its small size which makes it highly manueverable and it is lighter which makes it easier to get out of sticky or stuck situations. Its engine is also capable of using low quality fuel etc.

better to go in july and check the locals whether tourists are allowed to cross babusar pass or not, last year they didnt let us go ahead of lake lulusar due to security concerns...

we've decided to go through babusar route on our way back from gilgit....from here we would go by KKH...a cousin of mine who's coming from dubai just for this tour is insisting to go through KKH coz he has never been on KKH and want's a taste of it....u know mundaa dubaiyoon aa reya ve te onnu na vi nai keh sakde....

Dear if you going on mehran than i will not recomend from Chilass side to ascend on babusar due to many reasons. as the ascend is very very high. 2ndly when you will reach the top and than move toward jhalkhad than the time must be more than midday and you will have to cross very very high water stream crossings due to excess melting of snow. i have seen this many times that people with their fancy vehicles flooded with waters:).

and the key to go to Babusar in small car is that you go early morning as much as possible .

@joinami you have a point there bro....so it's decided that we r going to skip Babusar and use KKH for both side journey....and once again thnx guys for ur sincere advice....

Do not lose heart dear...it is do able easily from naran side so whenever you go , stay at naran or jhalkhad for night stay and leave early morning toward babusar and than chilass and come back via KKH . you will like this route if security conditions ok .

5 beetles and two VW vans from the Volkswagen club of Pakistan crossed babusar on their way to Gilgit, Hunza and beyond. On our way back we went to Rama where we stayed for a week before going to Sheosar lake Deosai Plains!

The road was pretty rotten and almost did not exist in some places. Thebest suggestion I can offer is to travel early morning before the snow starts to melt and the streams become difficult to cross. Other than that, exercise caution, travel in a group and look ahead... Speak to other drivers coming from the opposite side to get latest updates on road conditions.

It is doable but with certain risks.. Back in July, 2011 during my university tour to gilgit-hunza we crossed babusar top via coasters.. We switched to Babusar-Naran road from chillas instead of traveling on KKH due to shortage of time and for having some adventure. Our 3 coasters were heavily loaded and we started from chillas at 12pm. We managed to cross babusar but had problems too because of glaciers in the way and muddy track.. We had to push our coasters a couple of time and we reached Naran 10 Pm :o But it was a great fun n adventure.. Best wishes fore you bro

I have done it on Mehran with my 3 other friends and obviously with our luggage. Just go easy, take rest after some kilometers and keep an eye on temperature meter. Car jb bhe garam ho to ussay side pr laga k bonut khol k thanda kr lain. I have seen Suzuki FX with driver and 3 passengers going to Babusar but at every nala they have to get off from FX. Road is very good only problem is height which requires patience. we also went to Shogran on same Mehran with same technique (never llet your car go overheat).

Yes off course Mehran can cross babusar top even both side , I see even at manthoka water fall this is absolutely jeeps track , even I see corolla and city face problems to climb chilas to babusar top but Mehran climb as a lizard

I visited Shogran to Babusar top with my Family on Mehran Euro-2 on 02-07-2017. There were no major difficulties on this route except for land sliding near Jalkhad. I didn't attempt to cross Babusar Top as it was not in the itinerary , so I don't know about the slope and condition of road after Babusar Top. I have maintained my car well, so I didn't face any difficulty at any place. One must maintain Clutch, brake and radiator, when planning to visit this area. Shogran road is more of off road instead of carpeted one, it is bumpy. Cars with low clearance may face issue however, Mehran didn't face this issue. Good speed is required to cross few slopes.

For ISB drivers, whoever drove Mehran on the road of "Highland Club", he can drive at any place. I felt "Highland Club" road is tougher than any other high road. I drove Mehran Euro-2 with four passengers with 50-KG CNG cylinder at that time. All other cars there were above 1000 CC, so felt proud of my Mehran.
