Why use any other service when you have western union? I used it in January this year to send money to my friend and it was much simpler and smooth than what I anticipated.

I sent from UAE to Pakistan and it was very cheap. Instantly got the code.

Remember all the time you are spending on follow ups trying to get your money back is like losing money. You are wasting your time and time is money.

I think they do because the state bank loves to fine the banks for failure to adhere to state bank regulations.

On a separate note, I am currently entangled with Mobilink regarding an online transaction which hey wrongfully deducted from my balance. The amount is small (Rs 40+Tax) but this is illegal. I think I will have to go to consumer courts.

Your experience will be a guiding light for me.

You will go to consumer court will do all the hardship and in the best scenario Mobilink will pay you those 40 rupees, but is it going to stop them doing such practice? no it won't because not everyone who lost money would put that effort, company knows that. Its like the shopkeeper gives you less change than what he is suppose to give you, if the customer doesn't notice then the shopkeeper will not return the money if the customer notices then the shopkeeper will peacefully give the remaining change. So, your efforts will bring more loss for you.

On a separate note, legal proceedings are too much hassle for big corporations and then there is the risk of media exposure, which I have added to my complaint.

I have worked with some big guns and know for a fact that they will avoid legal proceedings until the end.

We need to learn to stand up for our rights.

That's not true...He can get compensated for mental torture/suffering, that could be a significant amount...Plus, it hurts the reputation of the company. Plus this is banking, state bank will fine the bank (mobile bank). Repeat offenders are dealt with very strictly. Banks can be shut down even. There are laws which give power to state bank to seal entire banks(all branches) within a very very short period of time.

His efforts can actually bring him a lot of cash. At times a company may even make an out of court settlement before trial to save face...

People and businesses often get insured against such stuff...

just contacted tameer bank and luckily reached investigation department af annd in 2 hours time i got calls from easy paisa staff and things got sorted out. an email with this blog link was helpful too when i emailed farud department about this
