Bad News: Bhoja Airplane Crash

In modern countries including India all passenger planes are fitted with doppler radars to detect microbursts and weather systems. It is not very expensive piece of kit but still..

Regarding the investigation, eye witness account is given preference which say they have seen fire onboard. The first lead must had been to immediately work on gathering all debris to find the traces of gun powder and other known explosives and if there was fire on board. But head of investigation is proud that we will not collect parts until the investigation is complete. Totally foolish strategy. The elements will be washed away by rain.

What can we say, how long Pakistan will be run by incapable hands. Poor civilians had to pay the price.

Dua for all. All these low cost and low standard airlines should be banned bcz obviously while givng such cheap rates they have to compromise with lot of things. If one cant afford flying must travel by road but not these poor airlines.

the plane was retired by Shaheen Airways
People here dont have common sense a plane can take off with faulty instruments but crashes just 6km's before the airport

landing is where both, the plane and pilot is tested.

take off can be done with faulty instruments...

so should companies start hiring younger pilots with less Flight hours ?
And pilots have a very strict medical check up before flying
Retiring is around 50 (Forces,Government) but dont know about flying

yes. There are lots of young pilots available who have the required experience. Not only that, flying is stressful, I cannot imagine how a 64 year old would cope with all that...doesnt sound good.

when it comes to being a pilot, a good character and etc is not whats crucial to the safety of the passengers, its his experience at number 1 and health at number 2. Experience can never compensate for poor health.

Although his health was probably not the problem here.

A very unfortunate and tragic incident. We should pray for the lost souls and look ahead to find ways to prevent such occurrences instead of blaming the weather, pilot or the aircraft. What is done is done, cannot be reversed. But we can try to prevent such accidents in the future with stricter flying standards and no compromises on safety and maintenance.

The aircraft was retired by British Airways in 1985. Why? There must be some reason. Old might be ok but the chances of something going wrong with something old are higher than with a newer product. I hope we have learnt our lesson and such an incident won't be repeated.

Two major aviation accidents within 2 years tells us something is very wrong with our system.

I Think taking off is a greater risk as the plane is going against gravity and winds and its using it's maximum power n strength . Most crashes have occurred shortly after take off.

Landing is comparatively easier as i have heard planes being landed without tyres opening,failed brakes and even engines failures.

I am so sad since yesterday and it was an unfortuante incident which shouldnt have happened.
I being a Pilot can only say that age doesnot matter in aviation but yes when medically ur unfit for flying then u cant fly because there is a tough proper medical which every pilot has to go through every year. we should wait for investigation reports,
I predicted(and uptill now this reason has been made the cause of the incident in the initial investigation reports) when plane crashed that it can be a Mircro-burst down draft which is a killer for every aircraft. but many things which are in my mind that:

1.why control tower allowed him to land in this bad weather.
2.why there was no equipment installed at the airport which tells the pilot during approach that CB clouds are in the path and flight should be diverted?
3.Did pilot wanted to save up the fuel or there were any instructions from the airline?
4.why he took the chance in this extreme weather??
5.there are weather radars too inside an aircrafts which tells about weather to certain extent why Pilot didnt see that during approach??or it malfunctioned??
6.Was there any other reason ??
There are various questions which has to be answered so just wait for final investigation report and pray for the departed souls Ameen

A rep of the CAA held a press confrence today, they showed it on TV. He said that the pilot had been made aware of the weather conditions but at the same time was cleared for landing by Islamabad. But in a flight, the last call is of the pilot. If he thinks he can land safely, then no one can question his judgment. What I got from their statement was that it was indeed an operator error or a mis judgment.

Another thing, they said that another plane belonging to AirBlue landed just 4 minutes after the Bhoja aircraft was supposed to land. The Airblue flight was on the same route as this one and went through the same weather. It landed without any drama.

Meanwhile on the news, they're saying that indeed lightening had struck the ill-fated aircraft and that was the primary reason of it crashing down.

Two tragic incidents in two weeks...Gayari incident at Siachin and now Bhoja air crash very very unfortunate...ALLAH give us strength to overcome this grief and my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families

Just today Shaheen airlines tire got bursted and landing gear destroyed,, but everyone was safe (ALHAMDULILLAH) ., and also in Lahore while taking off Shaheen airlines fuel tank was leaking ,,, ALLAH REHAM KARE !!
