The plane was indeed on landing approach and ATC cleared it for landing , if we accept ur point that it was not attempting to land then why the landing gear was lowered?

how do we know whether the landing gear were lowered ?
even if they were lowered that means they were on approach to the runway nothing unusual buddy

P.S when your near to the airport given clearance to land your landing gears are supposed to lowered

the aircraft was faulty. it was old and was not fit for flight. it flew under the pressure of higher ups.. which resulted in this catastrophe

how u can say that they were stealing those things and not collecting em on central place? unless the tv channel reported it one cant assume such negative notion without any info and according to my knowledge none of the channels reported such theft incident.
My friend from the military unit who cordon off the area had a hard time keeping people away from the crash site and according to him people were crying and collecting body parts and other things and they were adamant not to leave the site and continue the rescue work whereas it was hampering the rescue efforts. Had there been any such theft or nasty event at the site he or the media must have mentioned it.
so take a chill pill and be positive. Glass half filled is a better statement than Glass half empty.

First of all this was a very tragic accident indeed, however i noticed that some people were blaming villagers for stealing things and what not whereas according to most of the villagers some policemen were picking up things and putting them in their pockets... Point is no one here saw it, so no need to point fingers as it wont bring back anyone...
What was more disturbing to me was the fact that almost 30,000 people have visited the crash site since the accident and have been climbing roof tops of the villagers houses to take pictures!!! I dont think there is anything more disgusting and sickening than people actually going there to take pictures of themselves with the scattered parts of the plane.. and these are apparently supposed to be the educated lot when compared to the villagers.. I just hope that everyone on this site will refrain from such acts and also tell their loved ones not to do the same.. I doubt anyone would like it if they lost someone in the crash and found out that people are taking pictures with the crash, also it does hamper the progress of the investigation too.

All we can do is pray for the lost souls and their families which can be done from where your sitting..

I am so sad since yesterday and it was an unfortuante incident which shouldnt have happened.
I being a Pilot can only say that age doesnot matter in aviation but yes when medically ur unfit for flying then u cant fly because there is a tough proper medical which every pilot has to go through every year. we should wait for investigation reports,
I predicted(and uptill now this reason has been made the cause of the incident in the initial investigation reports) when plane crashed that it can be a Mircro-burst down draft which is a killer for every aircraft. but many things which are in my mind that:

1.why control tower allowed him to land in this bad weather.
2.why there was no equipment installed at the airport which tells the pilot during approach that CB clouds are in the path and flight should be diverted?
3.Did pilot wanted to save up the fuel or there were any instructions from the airline?
4.why he took the chance in this extreme weather??
5.there are weather radars too inside an aircrafts which tells about weather to certain extent why Pilot didnt see that during approach??or it malfunctioned??
6.Was there any other reason ??
There are various questions which has to be answered so just wait for final investigation report and pray for the departed souls Ameen

Sir just 4 minutes after this crash a plane of Airblue landed safely on Benazir Airport. According to reports the plane was on fire before hitting the ground. A friend of mine saw it live and let me post an excerpt from our talk regarding this crash.
