MUMBAI: Bajaj Auto, India's second largest motorcycle maker, launched KTM 390 Duke premium mid-size sports bike at Rs 1.80 lakh- Ex Showroom Delhi.
The second offering from its Austrian partner KTM's stable, the bike is the first mid-size sports bike in the country and it will be sold through 71 KTM showrooms & service centres across the country.
Amit Nandi, VP, Bajaj Probiking said "KTM is a sharply differentiated brand which in a short span of time is the largest selling premium motorcycle brand in India. This position would be further strengthened with the launch of the 390 Duke."
Bajaj AutoBSE -1.22 % owns 47% stake in KTM - the largest two wheeler maker in Europe, has lined up a 1.2 litre super sports bike RC8 during the year. It is in talks with its Austrian partner for two more products to be introduced over the next few year, reports said.
KTM 390 Duke, to be assembled at the company's plant in Chakan, is powered by a 373 cc engine and a host of premium features such as ABS, Metzelertyres, aluminum swing arm, aluminum alloy wheels and many more making it a powerful bike ideal for both racing as also city and highway rides, claims Bajaj Auto.The company sold 11,000 units of Duke 200 since its launch, and in 2012 alone sold 8500 units in 2012.
Bajaj Auto has exports of KTM 390 Duke to the US and European market and it will start the exports of KTM Duke 390 to Japan shortly. Bajaj Auto has so far exported about 30,000 units of KTM bikes from the Chakan plant, including 125 Duke.[TABLE="align: center"]
