Bake Paint Advice Needed

Dear All PW member,

Need advice. Am planning to Bake paint my car. Does any one know a really good professional experienced painter in Islamabad.

Am sick of all the so called professionals that charge a bundle and claim they can do everything and anything and when it comes to the nitty gritty they can't do SHI*.

So please guide me to professional painters that you have personally experienced and can bet your reputation on.

if u have got a good amount of money then go to auto club I-10!its the best workshop for bake painting! we got our car painted black for 65 thousand rupees with 3 years warranty!the job was flawless!

Auto club doesn't confine with the details which at least i look for, those minute details of paint finish.

go look at how they (painter/body shop) prepare the cars before painting - it can tell a thousand stories. car in a paint booth does not necessarily mean its fantastic, the base preparation if not done right will result in poor finishes. And do tell them you want a glass finish - not the cheap orange peel effect we see on original paints

While I agree with this statement. "Dealers" would have a field day when they see the car has a glass finish. They'd yell repaint until the world ended

At the same time am I fool for thinking I should sand down my RX8s paint to get rid of the (unbelievably thick) orange peel? LoL.

Bro's thanks for the input..but we are going slightly off the topic now....
Dealers will say anything to get a cheap deal... am not planning to sell my car..so not bothered about the dealers....

the car is a 95 civic - black. the car is in its original color never been painted or even slightly sprayed... but the original luster is gone....right back panel faded.

am looking for the right person for the right job..from start to finish....that means everything....from sanding the original paint to the prep up ...till the finish..ill be like a bee buzzing in his both ears....till i am not satisfied.....

i got corolla 98 XEG in black colour!trust me and visit auto club to see their quality with your own eyes if you do not believe in me! they do much better paint then vebra!all of the insured cars come to auto club for denting painting or mechanical issues!they take out the dents by using electro magnetic device and even the minute dents are not visible after paint!the primer they apply is of finest quality!the only issue is that they charge alot!but they will also give you guarantee of the paint!i am sure you will be happy by their job and REMEMBER there is absolutely no alternative of bake paint no matter how experienced the desi painter is!bake paint is bake paint! jet black colour is also available!when i got my car painted it took 20 days to prepare the base!altogether it took 28 days to finish the project!i dont have pics otherwise you would be amazed to see their job! one could see his face whenever he looked at the car!its shine was brilliant!

You are absolutely right. There is no painter good enough to a good job but actually you have to make him work good.

I have repainted 2 cars from Motor Experts in I-10. Thats better then the rest of all. Still not good enough up to my satisfaction level but its ok.

The painter who can satisfy me can claim to be a painter but no one.

BTW i have also repainted the same model, civic 95 but mine is in red color. My friends city is getting painted. Hopefully this week city will be painted. you can have a look on that if you want to.

There was a place in Karachi that painted my moms car - (I paid him what he asked) it took him a month just on the paint - as I had the car glossy even with primer to see imperfections etc. Then came the part where I had the car painted with doors and fenders laid flat on tables - the rear quarter panels were painted with odd strokes to even out the finish - hardener was premixed to surface the paint when cooked - the car (with absolutely nothing on it - meaning it was trollied with casters) was in the booth for 10 hours at 70 degrees - my required finish was glossy - once the paint settled down and cooled off everything was bolted back on - it was sanded again to a mirror shine then put back in for the final clear coat - that was sanded and buffed again to a mirror shine. (Even new cars were looking daft)

btw I used Standox brand finish and had the painter mix it by weight to original Greek White (far more beautiful than Hondas newer frost white and corollas ugly creme)

In one of the posts here, someone pointed out that Mitsubishi Islamabad and Honda, Peshawar Road have the best Bake paint facility in town. You can visit them as well to check their quality of work.

well i would here say perfection doesn't exist in the real world, however i haven't found any thing better than Motor experts in isl/rwp.Auto club is simply no match for it and they are more expensive than Auto club, however Mr.Arshad does understand the technicalities of painting a car.

They use standox and the paint job is pretty much upto satisfaction I would definitely thumbs up for them

AutoClub - what a bunch of rip off's - I asked them to paint my car they quoted 27k - then I have a mercedes in metallic black and instantly they said 60k. I said that is fine but could you tell me what different are you going to do with the Merc and there reply was we will take extra care of the Merc (as if the other cars do not need care) . they will quote you according to the brand of car u have and it is not professional
