well athar708 i know u hav baleno, but whats the point in exaggerating baleno by first discussing performance? city is not designed for performce, if u want to chk it compare ur baleno to a DOHC,VVTi corolla 1.3, or an equal civic....

ok heres my point:

1. in perf. i wud still take city, same torque but just 5 hp less, so what?

2,3,4,5,6 honda is better in quality but 100 times, yes more economical if u compare petrol to petrol, better in reliability, and comfort as its da new tech, and on sales, and service, but hard on spares

i have used baleno 1.3Gxi i think u cannot compare it honda city as honda city is a secondary car of honda and baleno is the first car of suzuki
it should be compared with civic and corolla because they are the first cars of pakistan
so it can be like
civic vs corolla vs baleno
if u see it like that then its clear
i am not a civic lover but in pak it has advantage Hp wise and and where as other things are concerned like interior and quality
all 3 suck quality wise very poorly made

aur haan baleno ki koi pick hay hee nahee as compare to honda city. its only 85hp. bayshuk naeee city 78hp hay per i don't think baleno can get the lead (as i have no experince of new city) aur haan puranee shape ki city 2000-2003 ki pick baleno say buhat ziada hay aur wo durable bhi hay. so i think city is better than baleno is every aspects i.e. petrol, drive (especially power steering), suspension, cargo every single point yahan tak kay nut bolt bhi honda kay better quality kay hotay hain. aur pata nahee nabeel nay kon si honda buy ki thi jis ki yeh baat ker raha hay. Must be made on his special order to Honda.

Yar when did i say my baleno is the finest car in Pakistan, getmoa plz dont be jealous of my ride. And remember dont give comments if have no experience.
Before buying baleno i too was having same thoughts likeu have for baleno.....but it isnt that bad car at all.....old balenoes have some problem but in the newer version that i have suzuki has considered some serious quality assurances.

First of all dont compare honda with toyota or baleno in comfortability and reliability....
The next thing is baleno is alot more faster than city as i have seen the competition by myself at lahore pindi motorway..i.e from 1st to last gear baleno rules...
As far as i am concerned,,,,if i has to make decision i will definitely by baleno...coz its fast, cheaper, economical (either cng or petrol), and sporty than city...

Number of times this discussion appears on the forum. My opinion is that both cars are good. Each one has its good and bad points and the choice which car should be picked depends on the preferences of the selector. First look into city.
It is not the second car of Honda as it had been previously. It is built on different and original platform. It has won many awards. Infact it breaks the 33 years record of corolla as the bestselling car of Japan in 2002.(actually the hatchback version did so but it is also available in japan as sedan called fit ario).
In india it won the most prestigious award which is prudential ICICI-Overdrive car of the year award. City got 81 points from the best possible of 120 points from 27 judges. The second was Accord with 69 points and the third was corolla with 54 points. And all other cars including baleno were with less than 50 points. You see judges gave only 69 points to accord. How big is the difference. Although the city available in India is 1.5, but corolla in India is also 1.8, and baleno is 1.6. you can check the details of this award on Indian car magazine OVERDRIVE website. It also won three other awards in India.
The engine of city is state of the art( the twin spak plug design is also used in top Mercedes petrol engines).
The transmission of city is state of the art(vario).
The EPS steering of city is state of the art.
Its design is also state of the art modern aerodynamic design.
All above properties are absent in baleno.
Baleno has got better suspension.
Factory fitted CNG.
Factory fitted keyless entry.
Immobilizer.
More solid body.
Better rear seats.
And better performance.
But one thing should be clear when we select city or baleno we do not do so by comparing performance. These both cars are not build for this purpose. For performance Honda has recently introduced city Vtec. When this will be available in Pakistan then you should compare performance.
I have got new city and my brother is driving new baleno. We both live in the same house and both of use each others car and we have a lot of discussion on comparing both cars. This discussion can never end but on one thing we both agree that whichever car one selects he will not be disappointed with his purchase. If city is modern and high tech, baleno is economical and decent looking. If baleno is high on resale and cheap parts, city has got better interior and experior finish and built quality.

guys i currently own 2000 baleno...when i drove the new city..i was simply blown away by its smooth ride, excellent gear change and what not...believe me this is not a biased opinion,but on personal experience..as a result, im selling the baleno, and Inshallah my city should come soon :D... + it has better petrol milage than the baleno any day, and the ride is MUCH MUCH smoother!..u must admit it guys!..regards..

and who ever said its not right to compare baleno and city as suzuki is high end car of suzuki, and city is midrange of honda..BUDDY...u are mistaken...i believe the city gives the baleno a very hard time, and IMHO its better!!...so by simply saying not to compare them doesnt make sense..regards...

but my friend one should accept the bad points so that u can make changes and get performance
and asfar as i am concerned i dont buy vti and se as they are small cars and are type R
i have subaru impreza 2.5L wrxsti i have added it on forum check it

and as far as baleno and city are concerned i do aggree that honda city is ok but if u compare it with
Baleno 1.6 gti and even then u say honda city is better then u r in love with honda

well athar the point is tht 1.3 corolla is tougher and dont know abou 1.3 mitsu i bet it sucks because i drove its 1.6 verion, and it frankly speaking it was comparable to vti or se. secondly let me put some pub aruguments down, baleno is 83hp not 85! its 85ps and hp and ps r not the same things, similarly city is 77hp not 78. but city's front aerondynamic shape and less drag will make it stand equal to baleno...

hey ather whatever u r saying is totally out of my mind experienced boy. well, i had my own baleno JXL and drove over 18000kms and then sold it out. it wasn't better in top speed either, it just goes to 160km/hr not more than that. nor it has a pick. where as i had my second car honda city 2000(crystal light) but that was in automatic version. i kept it till i drove it 1,25,000kms and nothing happened to it although i had been running it on long routes. BALENO is thaklee car. u might haven't drive city. get one and tyhen compare the pick up. Baleno ki zara bhi pick nahee hay city kay muqabalay may. agar tum jhoot boloo gay to main tumaree side nahee loon ga. get both of them on factory settings and then try compete. or ask the ones who had been in race. aur nabeel yaar baleno ki 1.3L ko city say compare karoo na, yeh kia obviously se baat hay 1.6 baleno to agay nikle hee jayee gi city say.
