some people that ridiculously state that the BAN on import is in favour of the country to save foriegn exchange , make me laugh so bad...
i have a question for them..
are the vehicles the only commodity that is being imported..??
clothes , electronics and hundreds of other categories are being imported.
with the duty structure falling in between 5% - 15%... for the cars... its from
71% -111%
would not it be a wise decision , to distribute the duty burden on other commodities by raising them slightly , and allowing imports of vehicles to meet the targeted revenue ?
vehicle accounted only a mere 3% of our county's import bill .
and this is their policy..?? to cartel the market , and raise the duties insanely just to their BRIBES..?
let me share you the mentality of our government officials....
by my OWN relative , who is in a very high post at government.
i asked him , why is commercialization is a sin here..?? why don't you people declare all the roads as commercial so ppl can commercialize their locations easily and create opportunities for small business to grow , and hence the economy.
and he answered ,
if we allow this step , all the fee people would pay would go to the national treasury.
but now , we have made commercialization a sin , so when you commit this sin , you would be required to pay us the price. which goes into our poket , and not the government. and this is how the SYSTEM works.
now this is the level of this government.....rest m speechless....
