lets see if this actually happens. However, what is needed more is competition amongst local assemblers, govt should take steps for other manufacturers to open up their plants here. We have had the same 3 main local car makers since the 1980s, its time to put some competition in the market.

Its about time the artificially swollen prices of of used cars came down.

Factually, a 9 years old Honda Civic which was worth 7 lakh last, is 10 years old this year and costs 8.5 lakh.

Illogical, Right? No. Because to a guy with 8.5 lakh, the local manufacturers can not offer anything other than a lousy cultus.

its not gonna help unless they allow imports of upto 10yr old cars...
if so then e.g. a 10yr old corolla say 01 or 02 model wth a 1300cc engine wd b available around 1 million... if its only 5yrs, then a 5yr old 1.3 corolla wd cost just as much as a new xli... and that wd have absolutely no effect on the car prices, neither used nor freshly imported and nor the locally manufactured...
so if its good faith, it must b up ten years otherwise its useless...
bt i highly doubt its really gonna happen, given the credibiility of ths govt in the last 2 yrs..
