Battery Change on a New Toyota GLI Corolla

Can anyone plz guide me... i intend to change it on a brand new Corolla GLI Auto from Conventional to Maintenance Free...How do i go about it without resetting the ECU that usually happens when you take off the battery terminals, someone suggested to keep the motor running that is keep it idling than change the battery, which will not reset the ECU nor change the cars setting... kindly advice and suggest.

I have heard its changes your Petrol to air ratio...thus consuming more petrol and reducing your mileage.

I have also changed to deawoo maintainence free battery a week ago, in the process normal route was followed means engine was stopped and haven't faced any issues later.
Car milage or consumption remains intact so go for normal way and dont listen to such out of the box ideas

No issue with the rest,if u still want to do this without resetting,the battery guy will have another battery,ask him to connect that via a long wire to the terminals and take off the previous one

Even if it gets reset, it will re learn the settings after few kilometers of drive.

You may feel vibration due to rpm drop at idling after reset. But don't panic it will go away.

Y u want to replace just on maintainence free tag , ur battery installed will go as a used one . My advise dont change genuine battery . Once genuine battery is exhausted in 2 years or so change to dry battery .

if the vehicle is under-warranty keep it OEM Stock. Else visit any battery shop they connect parallel small battery when changing to new one without any change to ecu data / multimedia setting of vehicle. for reference check google "parallel battery back-up"

thanks Bro..The only reason for my switch over is to avoid acidic marks on the Bonnet Frame and Battery Cover....Toyota needs to switch over from conventional to Maintenance free and the extra cost to be recovered from end user...

thats' the sign of over charging and / or bad specific gravity of battery. visit battery shop ask for battery acid test (they will use a hydro meter) of every cell and tell you reason for boil up.

a fresh water cleaning of battery top & terminals can resolve the issue. Check weekly if spill over is happening, you may need alternator checked for bad regualtor.

sir even the maintenance free battery cells have liquid electrolyte. The cell banks are sealed from top to make it maintenance free, but removing cover and top up weak cells with electrolyte is possible. The seal covers have breather ports and if generator ( alternator) is malfunctioning the spurts from Maintenance Free battery breather ports will also damage the paint.
