Aoa guys, i broke my negative battery terminal sensor and i got it checked and they say that it can not be repaired and needs to be replaced, which is too expensive. are there any alternatives, if any one can suggest? or would it be okay if i just keep using the car like this? location is islamabad. car is honda civic 2013.

If only the plastic part is broken, you should fix it carfeully with epoxy glue or super glue. Otherwise I don't think you should replace it.

the copper wire has broken and seems fixable after melting the plastic a little, but the people in islamabad refused to do so. will get it checked from islamabad. does it seem fixable?

Ok I get it.

First you need to see it as used one in auto scrap market, possibly Rawalpindi or Peshawar.
If you can't find, I have an idea. But for that, you need to have some knowledge of electronics. Or take help from professional/electrician friend.

1) first you need to open the box (having writings on it). Observe the copper probes polarity which are broken (very important).
2) only then, cut the green n white wires.
3) check polarity between the two wires (green, white) and the two copper probes. After that you will come to know which wire need to be connected to which probe.
4) Connect/solder the wires with probes, secure them with hot glue or epoxy resin.

It is quite hard but not impossible.

what will happen if i keep using the car like this? since my battery is drained my car doesnt start but i will get that changed, but i was also advised to keep going without the sensor, does it affect a lot? the sensor is really expensive and im not sure if im going to find it in scrap anywhere

also, if i get the plastic melted and get the copper wires attached again, will that work?

just buy a new IBS and get over with it,

Dont use brute force to remove or work on the terminal the next time, If it gets stuck on the post, use a 2 legged puller to remove like you are supposed to. The tension stud should not be torqued to more than 12 lb/ft either

The usual culprit of this happening is violence or force.

Offcourse it is obvious he broke it with force, and acc to him its an expensive replacement part. Thats why I suggested him to find it in scrap or repair it.

That you need to check but jump starting it from another battery

I don't think you need to melt that box plastic.. If it can't open, leave it. Melting will be very dangerous.

im suggesting to melt it only to get hold of the copper wires so the broken part can be installed back by fusing them together. thoughts on this?

Its cost of ownership of owning the car, it has an IBS so the alternator can adjust the battery charge and in turn provide better fuel economy.

Trying chewing gum or melt repairs is literally comical. This part is sold at Honda parts shops. Ive changed a lot of these and every time this happens its human error. Similar are used in a lot of other cars too.

yes, thats what i meant. after disconnecting it from the car, melting and fusing the copper wires back together. as it is attached to the negative terimal its easy to take off, just need to take a bolt out!

Bro I am strongly suggesting you don't do it by yourself if you don't have electronics knowledge. I suggested you to prick open it, not melt it. Melting may cause a short to the circuit. As sir @Xulfiqar mentioned, it is available easily in auto-parts shops, so thats why I guess it will also be available in auto-scrap market.
