Bearing noise in Generator, help required

From yesterday evening I m hearing a strange zoom zoom voice from my car generator which is probably generator bearing. Can anyone tell me how much is the replacement cost and any reliable mechanic in isb?
Any specific type of bearing ??

Also is it harmful to drive car in this condition. Cuz I have time only on weekends :(. And weekend is still 5 days away. And in 5 days I ll drive it further 100kms. Can I go with this ?

happened to me yesterday, total cost
i could not find bigger bearing, so repaired that but small one costed me around 300.
labour 300. other exp. 200

total 800 ( rough estimate)

and do repair it. as told by mechenic that if generator is down, everything is down ( cant start car as it all electrical ). but point here is the noise is still there. though a bit reduced. i think bigger one is creating the sound now.

worn bearing makes the generator run hotter.. this ruins the varnish of the winding and the generator doesnt give the proper current and voltage out put.

if have suffered that.. had to change the winding..

change the bearings asap... god forbid if the bearing was to jam your belt will also break.. and in some cases it is connected to the water body pump too. so your car will also over heat as well.

Once a bearing starts making noise, it is dead and must be replaced.

Generator has no problem at all. He just regreased it.

But now the car is soundless. Even from inside one cannot feel the car is start even. :).
