it's a 1968 VW type 1 deluxe (non CNG) fully restored to factory specs. the only modifications have been the following
machined gear knob to replace the plastic one
Machined door lock pulls to replace the plastic ones
Open element air filter (with chrome housing)
31PICT carb
Alloy wheels
Modified wire cover in bonnet (could not find an original for the deluxe model)
Coil replaced by suzuki igniton (was going to order a blue coil from the UK but never got round to it)
No stereo (looking for an original radio still)
No A/c - type 1's didn't come with airconditioning in 68
the down sides to the car are the following:
fuel guage not working at the moment (looking for a replacement)
Exhaust has been repaired (not replaced as i was looking to replace it with a dual pack muffler)
Seat rails are a bit tight (need lubrication)
horn cap missing on steering wheel (3 inch rubber cap)
I can't think of anything else at the moment but i'll keep you posted if i remember anything else (good or bad)
Since this is my wifes car I'll have to ask her for her input before i sell it. As everyone here knows i'm selling it because she wants a 5 door vitz (but wants to keep the type 1 as well).
