A split AC system is only good if the installer knows what he's doing, if your A/C installation person does not pull a vacuum in the line set before opening the block valves in the condensing unit - your system is fked for sure, the head pressure will be incredibly high overloading the condenser with heat and consequently resulting in loss of cooling on the inner unit.

The line set (pipes) should be bent with a pipe bender or if you need an abrupt 90 degree flush with the wall turn braze a copper elbow to the pipes ideally with nitrogen purging so you dont form black soot in the pipes, Pull a vacuum in the system and make sure it holds, Finally the system running pressures should be checked. All the A/C units in my home in Pakistan were installed by me with additional driers. three of them are Orient (mistu clone) and one branded as Winia (bada$$ 18000 BTU unit with dual run condenser and evaporator and Bristol USA compressor) its a very very heavy duty unit and looks 99% like a Fuji (General) unit and it has zero problems in extreme Karachi heat. - of the three Orients one unit was overcharged with refrigerant when delivered, I had to remove some gas to stablise the pressures - normal installation guy wouldnt care and that would result in loss of cooling or some failure.

Till date all of them are running top notch, every year its a routine to clean out the condenser thoroughly, check and repair the insulation on the lineset.

ALL,,,,,, I MEAN ALL the split A/C installation people I have come across in Pakistan do not even have a gauge manifold - just some hammers, screwdrivers, drill etc. They dont even know that they are supposed to vacuum the lineset. And the general people who buy the AC and have them install it suffer from high bills, replacement of A/C every 3 years etc. - most harm is also done by their so called "servicing" in which tons of moisture get into the system and with no vacuuming etc the already "dirty with air because they did not vacuum the lineset at the first installtion" gas in the external unit gets mixed with even more air and moisture. Ask them of extra driers in the system and they will look at you like you have 2 heads.

I have also met some real lunatics in Pakistan, one person was saying that anytime the split A/C lineset is removed etc, All gas is lost, I was WTF are you on about man, Its basic common sense that the system is pumped down into the condensing unit (hence trapping all gas in the outer unit) before undoing the lineset.

I have found an AC installer who will install 1/4" R22 filter/drier in the high pressure line tomorrow inshaa Allah, but I saw a video on internet that it has to be brazed into the copper line set from both ends of the drier. Will that require nitrogen purge as you mentioned about black soot above.

Ambient Temp Is Temp Of Place Where You Are Charging Gas (The Outer Unit Atmosphere Temp) ...So Pressure Varies As Per Temp....!

High Ambient Temp Results In High Pressure On Pressure Line.......The Best Part To Double Check It Is To Calculate The Refrigerent By Weight And Add It By Weight....(+/- 40-50gms)....Factory Recommends To Add Refrigerent By Weight Always...Either Its Cars Air Conditioning Or Home....Home Air Conditioning Varies As You Shorten Or Lengthe The Lines To Install Outer.......!

Its Written On Unit Actually How Much Refrigerent Is Charged Inside And For How Much Length Piping......! As You Increase Line Length Or Decrease You Have To Adjust Refrigerent Accordingly....!

The drier he is providing is (I think he said 1/4 inch) is German made, I couldn't get the brand name.. I think he said something like amarco.. Aramco or emerco. I don't know what he said but it was for 1200 approx. he said.

Inshaa Allah things will be installed the way they should be. I will post my feedback after the thing is installed. One problem I am facing is that I am not able to find Mitsubishi Heavy Industries or Mr.Slim in Hyperstar, Metro(both gulshan and star gate) and Macro (Lines Area). They say all say stock is already booked and is picked up from the warehouse even before it can make its way to showroom.

Can any body tell me reliable places - no cheats (with fresh imported stock) to buy one of these brands that I am look for as in modern trade I could only find local brands.

Lets use my already installed 1 ton gree as an example, the sticker on it says 0.47 KG gas and in a new AC gas is already filled and the recommended pipe length is already provided by company. Now how do I make use of the ambient temperature graph and apply it here when gas is already inside (temperature average is 35 C) now what do I do to the weight or what do I change/modify ?

Also let me know about this Muller pipe. I want to install a thick gauge high quality pre-insulated copper line. Where did you find it?

NO. Sometimes I think we are giving undue importance to this vacuum thing, I have seen old Sabro/PEL split units which were installed simply and working fine for the last ten or more years.
May be I am wrong.

I Got 2 Split Units Installed In My House....Both Without Vacuumed And Both Working Fine....! So What's The POINT??

Point Is I Don't Have ANy Clue If The Unit Is Working On Its Effeciency Like It Should Be.......??? Let Me Give You Example

Lets Assume Right Now Ambient Room Temp Is 33 Degrees Celcius...It Takes 1 TON Unit Like 15-20min To Drop It Down To 28-29 And Trip ......!

After Vacuuming As System Runs On Its Peak Performance ..This Can Be Done In Like 10min ...??? Got It??

About Your GREE uNit...So How Much Pipe Company Provides With That Charged Gas??? If The Unit Is Installed With All That Pipe Length....No Additional Extra Length....Then There's No Need Of Adding Any Refrigerent.........!!

We have no options, they are company guys and company says warranty will void if you get your unit installed from third party.
But I am thinking of lodging a complaint to Gree Pakistan.

They Hire Same ZERO Meter CHotto's To Install Unit......Its All About Selling Here...Company Knows Either You Get Them Installed By Them Or Local Technicians......Both Are Same.......Company's Don't Spend On After-Sales And Quality Control.....They Are More Interested In Selling Their NEw Models Again And Again..........Got It??

Guys, there is a new problem, please help. I went to a car a/c mechanic who had a micron guage as well as a vacuum pump. But he told me something new which further puzzled and frustrated me. He said inorder to pull vacuum in a brand new ac, the pre-filled gas by the company will have to be wasted and new gas will have to be inserted after pulling the vacuum. I will share his explanation of the story. Guys please tell me how to pull the vacuum without have to let go of manufacturer's pre-filled gas in a new ac

Here in the picture as you see, he says if he attaches the vacuum pump on any of the two block valves, he will have to open the block valve to pull vacuum from the lineset else there will be no access to line set since the passage between lineset and vacuum pump is closed by the value that is also preventing the company filled gas to enter into the lineset. So if lineset and vacuum pump, pre-filled gas will also be wasted... is there a way to pull vacuum without loosing the pre-filled company gas

I once spoke to Gree guys on their Facebook page and asked them why they dun use proper method and use vacuum pump for Split installation and he said sir no need for it 99% splits are installed this way.

BTW I got Haier Split LEK18 models installed in my office. 1.5 TON and performance is disappointing. We ran it for like 10 hours and couldn't bring temp down to 24C in all 10 hours.

For Valve Thing...........There Should Be A Way As The Manufacturers Pull Vacuum On Line set Before Charging/Opening Gas.....There's No Such Thing As You Have To Waste It Somehow..........I Don't Think So......! As I Memorize.....They Open Valve Using L-Key After They Install Line.......!!! Isn't It???? Dig Into It And You Will Have Answer For It

I am not that much of a technical person, but what ever gas you are putting in the system will be altered its chemistry will be changed when it will react with oxygen and other things which are already in the line set

I bought GREE GS-12ECH10 model (1ton) for 48,000. Running current is 4 to 4.5A which is good I guess.
AC is build well but installation as usual was pathetic and they charged 2000 without accessories.

1 ton for 48,000??? Anything special in it? I mean is it inverter type or what?

2ndly, does it come with pipes and other things. If not, how much were u charged for those? Details please.

No this is not inverter but its a new international series introduced by them. It uses R410 refrigerant and comes with both heat and cool function and they claim it consumes 35% less energy.

35% energy can only be saved by inverter option imo... otherwise its just a claim...

Actually to make Air Conditioner work on R410 you also need new latest compressor and other design changes. The R410 compressor are not only more efficient the whole AC is also better if you compare to R22 Splits we have in Pak. 99.5% In pak are R22 ones.

So if not 35% I expect this to be at least 15% better.

Please ask those people that how many times they had to refill gas, change compressor etc etc....

That is not the service port. Please see the pic below which will show you where the vacuum pump is connected. You AC will come with an installation manual and it will have all the details about how to vacuum the lineset.

Asalamualikum white angel, Love you man for this, I have also downloaded videos from youtube that were released by LG and Fridgaire telling how to do installation. Now I will take this to that guy and show him to do it this way...
