Every year, PakWheels.com conducts a comprehensive automobile industry survey to ascertain the choices, habits, and preferences of the consumers. This survey also helps compare and analyze new data with the old one. The survey provides valuable insights into the behaviors, preferences, and trends of the Pakistani automobile community.
The PakWheels Automobile Industry Survey 2022 gives us similar insights. With over 29,000 participants, the survey yielded interesting results reflecting the choices and opinions of Pakistani consumers.
Best Fuel Brand
A good fuel brand helps in increasing the life of your car’s engine. When we analyze the market, we see that PSO dominates with a whopping 43% market share. It is then followed by Total with a 19% market share and then Shell with a 17% market share.
When asked, the majority of the respondents chose PSO to be their first choice of fuel. This popularity ranking was topped by PSO, followed by Total, and then Shell.
When asked why they had chosen a particular fuel brand, 49% responded that they liked the quality of the fuel, while 23% said that it was near their homes.
When it comes to motor oils, a handful of brands are dominating the market. At the top of the list is ZIC with a 15.3% market share, followed by Shell with 12.3%, Toyota oil with 8%, and Honda Oil with a 6% market share.
When it came to consumer preference, the majority voted for ZIC. the second most preferred brand was Shell, and the third was Toyota Oil.
When asked how often do they change their motor oil, 48% responded that they change their motor oil every 4000-6000 km. While 38% said that they prefer to change it every 2000-4000 km.
In response to the location of the oil change, 30% responded that they get it changed locally. While 28% said that they go to a 3S Dealership for an oil change.
The car tyre market is also dominated by a couple of brands. Their popularity is reflected in their market share too. For instance, Yokohama dominates the market with a 43% share and was also the most preferred tyre brand by the respondents.
Yokohama is followed by Dunlop and then General tyres.
69% of the respondents said that they chose a tyre brand because of brand loyalty, while 50% said that they chose it due to the price factor. 30% of respondents said that they changed their car tyres after the 40k - 50k km mark.
Three types of batteries are available in the market for cars - dry batteries, fluid batteries, and maintenance-free batteries.
42% of respondents said that they use dry batteries in their cars. In the popularity rankings, Daewoo came out on top, followed by AGS and then Osaka battery.
41% of respondents said that they use fluid batteries in their cars. In popularity rankings, AGS was on the top of the list, followed by Exide and then Osaka.
15% of respondents said they use maintenance-free batteries in their vehicles. In the popularity rankings, Daewoo dominated the competition, followed by AGS and then Osaka.
