Best Cat converter cleaner or cleaning method

CAR: Daihatsu hijet 660cc non turbo 2012.
ODO: 156301
City: Peshawar

The minivan was giving an error code which my stupid self forgot to take a pic of but it was about the cat converter. The mechanic said that it's either clogged, removed or just doesn't work for some reason. Referred me to "silencer wala" who was about to pour a weird concoction into the fuel tank which I didn't allow.

The question is, as the title says, I need to clean or unclog it somehow. Should a cleaner be used or is there any other way? I don't think I'll find a genuine cat con for the van so this is the only option I have.
The minivan has been with me for about a couple of months.

Any help would be highly appreciated

I’ve seen people using insane methods to clean it. Most absurd method I saw one mechanic using toilet cleaner ACID to clean this cat. Converter.

Since its attached to exhaust pipe, hence a silencer wala can open it well because it may need gasket when fixing it back and those gaskets are only available at silencer shops.

Visit silencer shop, ask them to open it.
Take a few ml of dish washer liquid, pour into bucket, add water, make foam and dip the cc into it and leave there for sometimes. Use pressure water to clean it.

And that’s all. Fix it back and drive.

Beware... Most of the mechanics open cat and secretly remove the precious metal, and install it empty for you... 90% mechanics do this

once i even saw a mechanic who puncture the honey comb structure mesh with a pick. And he gave guarrantee to owner that he will not have any issue for next 5 years
some people really do absurd ways to show their -ve expertise

Can you guarantee that you can undo the melt with your dish solution? Each replacement is usd 1000+

Ill pay you 500 per job if you can revive it to at least 90% efficiency (US DOT regulations fail the cat under 90%)

Funny thing is that owners love to get these services as they are cheapest and it was told to them that they somehow beat the system by completely eliminating the system as it was “فزول پاگل بنانے کا طریقہ”

If your mechanic thinks the cat converter is clogged or not working, you might want to try a catalytic converter cleaner first. These cleaners are designed to help remove deposits. Just follow the instructions on the bottle.

I am so, so tempted to purchase an exhaust gas analyzer sometimes. It's just that they are expensive, and it's easier for shops to make money by screwing customers and learning to lie.

But of course, as you've been apt to maintain, it's also the moron customers. I am always amazed at the amount of unsolicited mashwaray I receive about my car. As if there's a strange undercurrent of a cultural pressure that "cars" are something that men must know and speak confidently about, regardless of their complete lack of practical experience, or any understanding of the theoretical or engineering principles.

Nobody cares about anything emissions related, though. Then we complain about how hot the weather "has become."

That's what I suspect as well. The cat on my car is hollow, as are those of a couple other people I know. That is the primary reason, I believe, behind catalytic converter theft - the value of the precious metals.

It isnt limited to cars, we have people assert their HVAC knowledge dominance via a mini split by just claiming its running amps.

same people say that new model mini split dont need vacuuming before opening the king valves, claiming vacuuming was only required in the olden days. Upon further explanation demand , their reply starts with “company ac tech said” and in the miiddle you learn that the “proofing charge” of 1 psi nitrogen is apparently a replacement of vacuuming as its a “special wali gess”

Somewhere in the mid you may hear purging, and when asked how much do we purge, you get deer in headlights look then a ton of cussing follows.

All for just not using the right tooling and trying to prove that the “system is wrong”

Not the right forum BUT, im exactly dealing with this mess. Bought Samsung inverter AC, shop provided installation services, didnt vaccum (small fight errupted, alas he had no vaccum pump, no vaccum done). 3 years later, here I am with a leaked evaporator and a hefty repair bill. Cross road: Is the whole system rotten, or should i replace the evap. How to judge?

Not vacuuming caused the moisture in the system to react and corrode the unit from inside out. Find the ac tech again and give him a hug that he proved a true namak halal to his employer as the customer has to buy an ac within 3 years again due to his negligence.

Bit off topic but I'm yet to find a home AC technician in khi that uses a real vaccum pump and fills refrigerant by weight. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
