I think ALL cars should be rolled out in the following three colors.....ONLY!
1)Gun/Charcoal/Pastel Grey.
2)Silver (be it silky/or moonlight)
3)Black.

It depends on Car type.

In US, the large Luxury segments Sedans(Lexus, Mercedez, Cadillac, Rolls Royce, BMW) usually offer Solid coat Metallic Black, or Silver.

The Middle size, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as well as Small size cars like Honda Civic, or Toyota Corolla, usually are offered in all colors, but White, or other lighter shade is most commonly seen in this mid-size, small size car category

Personaly i feel black is no colour (scientifically it is not a colour at all). Datzburier is rite in saying that colours are also dependant on car size. Large cars look good in dark shades but small cars look good in light shades. Climate also plays an important part in colour selection. How would u like to be sitting in a black or tomato red car in 45 Deg Centigrade temperature. Ok in Europe horrible here. A Corolla/ Civic in Silver or White would be great. I prefer the colour Shalimar Rose/ Rose mist or whatever its called.

The best car colour in the world is black. It is the colour of royalty, heads of state, governments, diplomats etc. rest is the matter of choice, some may like it in Barbie pink though.

if one can maintain black car, that is awsome... this color goes on any sedan without question, otherwise silver rocks.

According to survey (which I read on internet) silver is the most liked colour in the world with blue as runner up. Cars without colors! Actually in 1934 Mercedees stripped off the colour of one of its car to reduce weight so that it could qualify in some race which has maximum weight restriction. The silver metallic body (without paint ) was liked by many and ultimately it became a favourite color.
Another interesting event is the invention of mettalic paints. In a Ford motor plant while mixing paint one of the bearing of the mixture gave away and was ground to fine powder under load. This fine powder got mixed in the paint and thus metalic shiny paint was invented. Nowadays metal powders are mixed to formulate metalic paints which are very popular in autos.
