Another very common myth is, that we should not use 0/5w-20 oil here in summer because outside temp. exceeds 40c. This is entirely wrong also because many engines (like 1KR) are designed for low viscose oils only.

People in Pakistan want to feel important and special - so they create echo chambers of myths and lunatic prophecies - some of which are - Pakistan is the hottest place on earth. In reality its not.

If your new oil with high detergency has cleaned stuff and is now leaking, your engine was trash long ago - you were on borrowed time and that time is over.

In case of old engines, if after engine flush seals start leaking, then it definitely means that seals were already passed their effective service life, and they were working on Bonus, or sludge / heavy entrained particles had kept them from leaking. Engine flush, only exposed their true nature.

But...

If an old engine is working fine, and by using engine flush there are chances that leaks may start, then why unnecessarily go for engine flush?

I think, regular oil changes, or fully synthetic engine oils can do the justice; i.e. clean the engine.

Hashim Bhai, how is the engine working on 10w-30?

Do you use Caltex / Havoline 10w-30? and from Pearl Lube oil store?

What about fuel efficiency, pick, power, etc. on 10w-30? Has it decreased in comparison to 0w-20, 5w-20, and 5w-30, etc.? If YES, then how much is the effect? Does the car feel heavy on 10w-30?

Have oil consumption issues stopped / reduced, or not? If YES, then do you top up? how much quantity after how much interval (time wise / mileage wise)?

i will give my verdict after 2500-3000 kms
for now
the thicker in visco i moved. the pick drops..fuel economy drops.
1kr is already sluggish with AC
so far tried 0w -20
5w 30
now 10-30
going to splash main pwd road (havoline lube shop). they have 10w in drum.....idea was if oil level drops.they sell oil per ML measurement

Sir first of all thankyou for taking time out and replying to my query.
I got your point and i completely stand by your opinion that only OEM recommended oil should be used in a car at any cost what so ever. My humble point is that what if my car is driven on thicker oils before (its not my mistake :D) and it has now covered almost 100k kms and its a common phnomenon that whatever thing you use most; you get used to it.
Now if i pour thinnest 0-20 in it my engine might curse me "oh bhai aae ki paa shuryaa ee" (on a lighter note) as it might have never experienced such a low viscous oil before and its chamber, rings and pistons are used to a high viscous oil. So my biggest concern here is that my engine might start reduce this oil at the first place and being a student its not feasible for me to change oils such frequently (plus dont want any headache of topping up again and again). Look again i would say that i oblige your point of view 100% and if i had bought this car brand new i would be using 0-20 from day 1 but now the scenario is a bit different.
I hope you consider my disscusion as a question from a student to his teacher and would appreciate your opinion on this. Thankyou

According to Toyota the correct oil is TGMO 0w20 or similar spec

Sir in Passo's manual both the 0-20 and 5-30 have been mentioned. And this is why i wanna shift to 5-30 in first place.

the engine doesnt adjust itself to a thicker oil, its not something mother nature made that can adjust to an extent like that - e.g. it cannot tint itself like yourself when under strong sun.

Thicker oil doesnt flow well and causes hotspots in the engine, using the right oil spec is always the best. If you want to debate on the "what if" - then buy some pressure gauges and also temperature gauges that you can install in the sump and also somewhere in the oil pressure gallery and then a transparent sump and valve cover to determine whats going on inside the engine in regards to oil flow.

Hahaha no sir i'm not that much critic, it was just back in my head that using low viscous oil after running on high viscous might cause some trouble.
However on your suggestion i'm gonna use 0-20 this time for my car. I'm then gonna keep a strong eye for my oil level and IF the oil drops after some kms, What would i do then ?

Just top up if it falls below the mid level. Oil decrease till mid level on dipstick is normal.

Thats the problem man. I dont want any hastle of topping up for atleast 4000kms. But i'm quite possitive that 0-20 might work fine with my car as Alhamdullilah its engine is as good as new.
So this time i'll go with advice of @Xulfiqar bhai and will use 0-20 and if oil drops below optimum level till 4000kms i'll switch to 5-30

UPDATE: I have changed the oil today and put havoline 0-20 fully synthetic. I would say my car has literally kissed me. Engine noise reduced very much and the sluggishness i was feeling in initial 0-40km/hr has almost disappeared.
I will share more results after driving it further. But so far so good.

Just keep a look at engine oil level on dipstick.

If the level drops, then top up and also share your feedback here.
