Off course 5w-30 gives the best result ever and better than 10w-30. if one wants to move on high viscosity grade then 10W-40 is better choice than 10W-30.

Of course, it would give better results; its thinner than 10w-30, easy to flow, more heat dissipation, and above all, its the most recommended engine oil grade and No. 1 choice, for most of the vehicles available locally.

Agreed, but the switch may be gradual, and not abrupt, like 5w-30---> 10w-30---> 10w-40.

Why switch to thick oils unnecessarily, when thin ones work fine?

Actually when i shifted on Honda city last year I made a research on the available oil grades and choice of the people and most selling oil product for Honda city 2009-2019/20 in our city Faisalabad.
The first choice of one new car holder was 5W-30 Honda brand oil (Fully Synthetic- Made by Total Parco) After this people go on shell engine oil 5W-30 Synthetic Technology then the third choice may comes to other available oils.Then if the vehicle is some how old then people chose 10W-40 ZIC was on number One (1) then other oils come in line.
I asked if vehicle is old then what HONDA dealer do with it,then he offered me 10W-30 (SM-Mineral based) Honda brand oil and in this grade slab only ****Caltex formula** 10W-30** was available. I choose Honda Brand oil and result was so poor with the reduced vehicle pick up and higher engine noise.
Then at next engine oil change i was told that 10W-30 do not have result as so less choice is available in the market, i was also told that in old vehicle fully synthetic oil become reduced often. So i then chose the Mobil Super 5W-30 Semi synthetic technology and found a very good result in all respect. Mobile Super is very economical in price and result is the best as i found.

very simple
for brand new car 0w20 or 5w20 or 5w30 is also acceptable
10w30 or 10w40 for high mileage engine like 100k kms

Mobil oil recommendation from experts please. Currently using 10w30 havoline but engine is giving bit noise now.

You may try 10w-40. If want fully synthetic with value to money, try ZIC 10w-40.

I have a 2011 1.3 manual city. I’m the first owner and have been using honda 5w-30 fully synthetic.

Lately I’ve been pushing the car or redlining it way too often so would like to shift to a better quality oil.

I’ve considered amsoil 5w-30 signature series fully synthetic for it. They also recommend an oil change interval of upto 25000 miles which is absurd lol.

I would also like to upgrade to better oil and air filters than oem ones.

What would you guys reccomend and why? And what’s your opinion on the oil I’ve chosen. Budget is not a priority, if anything performance is the only priority and the engine being redlined atleast 100 times a day lol (anything that would take a better beating).

So theres another problem, ive been going through brake pads like crazy at an avg of 5k kms on my honda city and 3k kms on my revo. Its definitely due to a very aggressive driving style. Can i switch to some cheaper brake pads that everybody can reccomend.

People say cheap brake pads tawaay kha jaatay hain so havent tried them till date but would like to and see how they last with my driving etiquettes.

Which ones would you guys reccomend?

Brake pads usually last 25k to 40k (50k rarely), how the heck do you drive? Are you sure your mechanic is not applying choona (limestone) to you

I install them myself. Been doing so since the last ten years on all my cars.

Like i said, i drive very aggressively thus the need for excessive stopping.

I just got akebono brake pads installed in mine and braking is on par with oem (if not better) they are 5k and made of ceramic material which is known to last longer and doesn’t put wear on the disc rotors. You can also get advics or nisshinbo if considering aftermarket but i am not sure about the performance.

I own a honda city 1.3 manual, 2lac40thousand km driven, currently using zic 10w40, car consumes minor oil, but its giving low millage of 14km/l in motorway without brake, should i use 10w30 or?

I have tried many but there is not comparison with Liqui Moly , i m using 10w40 in my i-DSI 2005 model and engine noise etc all gone just with oil change, will stand Mobil-1000 10w40 on 2nd grade. baqi kisi bhi engine oil ny aisa maza kabhi nhi dia. Keep using ZIC 5w-20. Pretty sure the only oil which has API SP and ILSAC GF6 rating

Hey Guys.
I was just going through all the the comments on this thread and decided to take help from you guys.
Just bought a Honda city aspire prosmatec 2012 model meter reading 145000 and engine is in outstanding condition. Previous owner was using Havoline 10w30 but I want to change the brand from havoline to Mobil. I am not sure where to buy genuine havoline oil in twin cities but sure about Mobil as they have company outlet Infront of Kohinoor mil. Question is changing brand will affect on engine or it will be fine if I go with Mobil 10w30. What are the other possible alternative?

Brand doesnt really matter, just make sure oil is genuine. And no need to spend more on expensive oil. Common favorite is Total quartz 9000 5w-30. Honda here follows the severe schedule, changing oil at 5k (genuine filter at 10k).
