I normally use ZIC but not satisfied with the performance.

Mind sharing the grade which you had been pouring? And can you also guarantee that the ZIC engine oil which you had been pouring is 100% genuine and original?

I am surprised to know this about ZIC, as now, I myself am pouring ZIC 5w-20 fully synthetic motor oil in my current ride Vitz, 2015 model, and fully satisfied with its performance. There is neither any oil consumption, reduction, etc. nor performance issues. Reason: Engine oil is 100% genuine and original!

After how long I should change this ?

I would say, change engine oil + genuine oil filter after every 5,000 kms, or 06 months, whichever comes first!

1. i am currently using 0w20 oil but i am planning to change it with 5w20. what is the diff between the two?
2. my car becomes very sluggish on AC and it gives me average of 12 kmpl both on AC and without AC.
how can i increase my car,s average and how to decrease its slugishness???? thanks.

0w-20 VS 5w-20, do not make much difference, just Kinematic Viscosity at 40 and 100 degree Celsius, is slightly more in case of 5w-20, when compared to 0w-20.

Btw, why do you intend to switch to 5w-20?

I think you need to check following 02 things:

1. Clean / Replace Air filter.
2. Catalytic Converter, it might be choked and requiring cleaning / servicing.

0w20 is the ideal oil grade for this car. Don't switch to anything else.

12kml mileage, is that within city? If so, it's good enough. Very good for normal city traffic of Pak. Only way you can get higher is if you're able to drive on empty roads and able to maintain 50-70 speed. Not possible unless you're in isb.

On motorway it should give 16-18kml depending on speed .

As for sluggishness

Go on highway. Are you able to attain speeds 100-120? Floor the pedal, can you go to 140 or more?

If so, catalytic converter should be good enough.

This is just limited power n acceleration of 1000cc n CVT. Want more? Get 1.3 Vitz.

So it might mean that the person has been using either 0w-20 or 5w-20. If he had been using thick oils, he might not have suggested you to use 5w-20.

In 5w-20, only use fully synthetic engine oil, meeting latest API SN / SN Plus, and / or ILSAC GF-5 criteria. Just ensure that engine oil is 100% genuine and original.

Change oil + oil filter every 5,000 Kms, or 06 months, whichever comes first.

I am assuming that your engine health is Great!

Shell, Total, Kixx, ZIC, Caltex / Havoline / Chevron, Mobil1, etc. are some of the respected and reputed brands, and are "IN" in the market since long. My suggestion would be to choose between any of these, or matching your budget.

Fancy, imported, expensive oils may be avoided. Rest, yours money, yours choice!

yes its accelaretion without A/C is very good and responsive. i have attained the speed of 120 in city but as i switch on the AC, car becomes heavy and sluggish means i have to press more than half of accelerator to pick the car.

Yes. Total Quartz 9000 Future Series is Great! and best value to money, however, as far as I know, its offered in 0w-20 and 5w-30.

I doubt if its available in 5w-20.

ZIC Fully Synthetic 5w-20 is another value to money option and can be considered.

I myself have been using ZIC and never faced any issues.

Just ensure that oil is % genuine and original.

It must not be fake / counterfeit.

Why are you so insistent on 5w20? There's no point in using it.

Best is 0w20 as it offers best n quickest lubrication of engine on starting your car. That's when most of the wear n tear happens in an engine.

5w20 is also not that common so not available in major brands from company petrol pumps like Shell, Total, Valvoline

Dear. I have recently bought a passo which is 2013 model almost 1lac km driven.
As far as engine health is concerned,it is fine.
As the car is new, doesnt know its history of oil change.
Would you recommend 5w30 for it as well??

Toyota says, you may pour in 5w30 if 0w20 is not available, but switch immediately to 0w20 at next oil change.
