Assalam o laikum to all PakWheelers,
Dear friends i have 96 model civil which i m driving now and i saw that engine is giving smoke and i thinks its time to swap the engine. So i have question that should i go for engine swap or should i rebuilt it again. If you guys suggest me a swap then also suggest me which are the best options for me.

If the engine is the original one and giving smoke then get it checked by reputable mechanic and ask for his advice. If its not repairable then you should consider swapping because it is usually the cheaper option. There are a lot of options for a swap which depends on your budget & what is it you actually want (power, economy, reliability, etc). The engine that most people opt for is d15b dual v-tec which gives good fuel consumption while giving optimum power for a daily driven car.

What about performance of current engine? Compression test current engine. Get it rebuilt if possible. Or get assembly of same engine rather than complete swap (if you want to be more practical).

Also, exi or vti?

I want it to be a bit more powerful drive then it already is and also i mostly use this car so economy with power is best i think. It goes up to 160km quite easily and i want a bit more then that to have fun.

Well bro thanks for a good advise as i told earlier my ride goes to 160Km easily so i think compression is alright but i ll contact my mechanic and let him run the tests. So if u have any other suggestion i m waiting.

Well (if you want to involve fun) then you need a b16, b18 or f20 swap add on turbo kit for a bump in the fun

Is a swap the only remedy for a smoky engine? No other options? Personally I think a swap is usually a bad idea. Rarely can our mechanics align the engine and related electronics seamlessly. Usually something or the other goes wrong and the car is stuck somewhere. The original engine I am sure can be rebuilt, if absolutely essential, by a well qualified mechanic. And I am sure this option would be cheaper too than an engine swap.

Keep the swap option as a last resort.

I need your help.
I recently bought a civic 2000 oriel with an exi engine under the hood. The seller had done some nasty trick with the engine which didn't allow me to figure out it's condition. Now it appears that engine is very weak and needs to be replaced. I'm thinking of replacing the head assembly (only) with it's original one(vti). Would it be possible to install head assembly of vti engine over exi other material or do I need to change entire engine along with all accessories.

Yes you can. Although you need to change ecu with it.
