I think Swift is the car for the purpose. With the company rolling out the newer model, parts for the older one will remain cheap.
I bought the 2017 Swift for 1408k incl. registration, kept it stock drove it a good 80,000km and sold it for 1725k earlier this year (2022) as i bought the 3rd Gen Swift. Suzuki is never a bad investment. But if you're looking for a 5 years old car to multiply your investment it's not happening to be fair.
Based on the present trend one can safely say that the asset (Swift2018) won't disappoint you by loosing too much that too depending on how good a car you bought and how well you keep it for the next 5 years. Moreover, it will give u a solid and comfortable ride as compared to the contemporaries. It will be high on fuel consumption that's for sure, but for an occasional driver it really doesn't matter. Plus Swifts have a market with buyers of its own, it ultimately does sell when the proposition makes sense, rather quickly. To be close to the market, the choice of colors and body condition will be a key factor after 5 years when fever for good old models sets in.
I'm not a fan of imported cars because of imported parts and inconvenience in sourcing them as they age, so I'll naturally advise in favor of local options. Although vitz is a good car, it's honestly not my appetite. I'd rather go for a well maintained, home driven, stock-non accidented Swift in good overall shape with its maintenance history available.
