People who are going to use Shell HX7 I suggest them to use Shell helix ultra 5w-40 it is better than HX7.You can compare both on internet.

Hi bro that is a nice to hear that you have changed the engine of your car. However, 143000 KM is nothing against the hi tech and robust honda engine. If it is treated well the honda engine can live up to 400000 KM. Just remember to use light engine oil like Shell Helix HX7 5W/30 or even more lighter oil, it is good for your car.

I would die if my car smokes. But I am not sure if the oil is being reduced or not.

ahmedraja is suggesting to go for 30. Do you guys think it would be good if I switch from 20W50 directly to 10W30 or 5W30?

If ur engine is in good nick, then shifting to 10w30 should not be a problem. Leave 5w30 for this time. Try pouring 10w30 first. Caltex havoline formula 10w30 is the most used oil in 7th gen civics

Shell helix hx7 5w30 is a very good oil. It is semi synthetic and good enuff for 5000 kms.

Other available options in 5w30 are
1. Honda fully synthetic oil 5w30 (repackaged total oil)
2. Pso carient fully synthetic 5w30
3. Total quartz 9000 fully synthetic 5w30

U r using the right oil sir. Stick to it. I had kept a gli 2007 and driven it about 225,000 kms on original engine. I had been using caltex havoline formula 10w30

My oil dealer is not a typical ustaad type. He is quite knowledgeable. However I remember him quoting that majority of civic owners use caltex havoline formula 10w30 or shell helix hx7 5w30

Abuzerkhan, a fellow pakwheeler uses zic a+ 5w20 in his vti oriel prosmatic 2005. He is quite satisfied with the performance and fuel economy. I would personally recommend to use a 20 weight or 30 weight oil in civics.

It was swapped by the previous owner. According to him engine got over heated bcz of coolent leakage nd they kept on driving without knowing it nd rings nd piston got fried

First u have to ensure that the oil is at the full mark. No more, no less. Try checking it early in the morning with cold engine. Take out the dipstick, wipe it off and then place it in again. Take out the dipstick again and check the oil level. It should be on the max mark. If it is not then top it up by pouring oil.

To check for reduction, drive the car about 500 kms after ensuring that thr oil is full. Then again repeat the dipstick procedure. The level should be where you had left it. If there is any reduction in the dipstick level then it means that ur car is reducing oil

Use Total 10W30 that pump will have it and drain it at 4000kms else i used Shell Helix HX7 5W30 in 2005 vti oriel without any issues and drained it at 5k. A friend has 05 exi it has clocked 395000kms and he was using castrol 10w40 from first day and car drives like a champ

They are same only packaging has changed. Caltex oils will still be supplied as per demand. U may stick to 10w30. Caltex has only discontinued its petroleum

Its good to use this oil other options can be anything in 10W30 10W40 API SN SM. Piece of advice a friend is using Castrol 10W40 magnatec in his 150K driven gli 2007 and drains it at 4-5k
