Have you tried pulling out the error code(s) / fault code(s) against that check engine light? By scanning your vehicle via diagnostics tool or scanner?

IF No, 1st do it this. IF YES, please mention the error codes here.

Please also check that whether fuel lid has been tightly closed?

Sometimes, CEL can also appear in similar cases, if fuel lid is not properly / tightly closed.

engine check light error in my Passo 2007 after filling petrol.

add 10 liters of Hi-Octane to fuel tank, use vehicle. CEL will vanish.
The CEL is due to bad fuel and O2 sensor is generating error for Clogged Cat Converter.

Make sure to top up fuel from a reputed fuel station in area.

• CEL = check engine light
  get vehicle scanned for errors.

Computer check revealed that the auto choke wire was broken. Issue resolved.
