Hi Engr thanks for your message, my apologies for the late reply.
So the 1991 prado i bought was in very poor condition (driving but no point to it really as mechanically everything was wrong with it). My goal was to buy an old car and see if i can restore it. Sadly my experience after 3 years is that unless you have the time to restore it yourself mechanics in this region will always let you down. I have found a new mechanic that i trust but it has been a very short while so lets see how things go.
Replacing engine with a 1kzte (with intercooler) and complete uncut wiring that is bendable and not rigid with no cuts and all the connectors as well as all the accessories like attached complete gears/transmission/alternator/fuel pump/injectors/ecu is a tall order and not easily aquired. If you just buy the engine and not everything else you are already in trouble.
Then there is the question of skill level as your mechanic may install the engine at the wrong angle and height effecting drive line, pinion angle etc.
You can buy new engine wiring looms from the U.S. that are designed to be generic and fit any car. They don't look the best though.
Even if you manage to find a magical engine, gear set with all accessories the skill level of mechanics will continually let you down unless you are there to supervise and you know exactly what you are doing.
The car comes alive offroad as these old prado's have great clearance on stock, are perfectly ok with 33 inch tires and just plow through any terrain you can throw at them.
Good luck on your journey, its an uphill task filled with difficult challenges but a fun one.
